Made some coral type things, playing around more with vertex colors to add variation without making multiple materials or mesh instances Might do some vertex painting for levels too, where I think the lighting would benefit #saltwaterbodies #gamedev #screenshotsaturday #indiedev

Going to be releasing the first public demo build of #saltwaterbodies soon... kinda nerve wracking. It's really only a small cross section of the whole thing, but it feels like not enough for two years of part time development >.<

Have seen a lot of people, in discussing the recent JG revelation, echo this claim that murder is somehow *objectively* less bad as a crime than SA, without really considering how this reads to victims. If you feel that way as a fellow survivor of SA I entirely understand what you mean, but when

I think this stems from specifically the societal viewpoint, that for everyone who is not the victim it is a lot more convenient to have somebody they can bury and grieve for a few months than to have a broken person that needs a little more emotional effort to deal with for the rest of their life.

Obviously both crimes are abhorrent, there are countless ways for one person to irrevocably harm another, but may let's not try to rank them in some fucked up moral tier list to score internet points without considering the implications you're making about the victims of those crimes

it's just thrown in as a rhetorical technique and not a subjective way of relating the harm you've experienced, it comes across as this implication that you think *I should prefer to be dead right now*, that my current state is somehow worse than that of somebody buried in the ground.

Adjusting some lighting, there's a chimney structure here you can use to refill your air. Hopefully it's fairly obvious there's a hole in the ceiling from the lit area, but may need to adjust the geometry somehow if not... #godotengine #indie #gamedev #saltwaterbodies

earlier I finished The Message From Deep Space and honestly a great game, on par with Outer Wild. would recommend it to anyone who likes media like Contact or Arrival took me about 24 hours over the course of a week, but it's split up into many small levels (like maybe 100?) and also bigger acts

also obviously if you liked Chants of Sennaar you'll probably like this. It has less environmental context for the learning, but that's offset a bit by the fact you have 3 other characters on your team providing dialogue and optional hints/ideas

Karel ฤŒapek: In my play I invented the idea of robots (enslaved race of artificial intelligent beings) as a cautionary tale. Tech bros: We're so close to creating the robots from classic sci-fi play Rossum's Universal Robots, just a few more billion dollars please!

Some #godotengine #gamedev clips for #screenshotsaturday: Firstly, removeable planks. I'm gonna be adding a few different obstacles, some that will take tools but some like planks are going to be simpler to deal with

Got some very simple "rope rendering" working... just scaling and rotating a cylinder mesh๐Ÿ˜… Might make this fancier in the future with a skeleton or even custom shader with per-instance slack etc, but for now I think it'll be good enough! Tomorrow will look at adding pulleys, for the bathysphere..

Also worked on a vending machine! Nice to get some use out of this inventory system, not sure what effect I'll tie to drinking soda or whether I want them to be something that can be picked up and used elsewhere ๐Ÿค”

Technically #screenshotsaturday here now so a peek at what I was working on during this evening's #gamedev stream: The diver propulsion vehicle, aka "scooter", will be how players get around larger areas quickly. I'll probably also use it to store equipment or as air restoration point.

And of course I accounted for flipping the card! Horizontal flipping reverses character order as expected, vertical flipping reverses the bit-order of each character (allowing for characters not on the keyboard ๐Ÿ‘€) Punching multiple times bitwise ORs the results #godotengine #gamedev #godotwildjam

Working on a little something for the #godotwildjam and trying out some physics-based automation/factory type game. Enjoying this "offhand" mechanic to build stuff, but it's quite finicky ๐Ÿ˜… #godotengine #gamedev

Having read a fair amount of LitRPG, I really think that this feeling I get as someone who learnt how to program and is now watching a generation of people who can only code using LLMs, must be exactly how wizards would feel watching a generation of people who can only cast magic using the System

wdym you can only cast the specific spells that the System grants you access to, and it's all random/you have no control over what's available. You have to spend "mana points" to cast things? ๐Ÿคจ Like not to power the effect, but just to make an incantation you could just... know... pick up a tome ๐Ÿ“–

Totally forgot to post about having released this ๐Ÿ˜… Playable in browser or download: eva-codes.itch.io/portents-of-...

Some progress on my entry for the #LynchianIdeasGameJam . Have some of the UI working and have started on the environment renders (it will all be prerendered, at least the plan for now). #godotengine

More bits and pieces around the bathysphere deployment done~ Still need to add a door and more of an interior, then get the fun of trying to get NPC characters pathing into it properly >.> #gamedev #indiegame #godotengine #screenshotsaturday
