"…when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security." Their *duty*. 4/4

Lots of American flags (and a fair number of LGBTQ+ flags and a few Mexican and Ukrainian). LOTS of cars honking in support. (Pretty much continual.) Lots of drivers and passengers taking video as they drove by. Maybe seven or eight drivers expressing MAGA sentiments. #NoKings Medford, OR

Am I the only one flashing on the Moscow embassy? If this is allowed, the next administration* is going to have to get rid of them. *Big assumption, I know.

(NYT) - President Trump, furious about delays in delivering two new Air Force One jets, has empowered Elon Musk to explore drastic options to prod Boeing to move faster, including relaxing security clearance standards for some who work on the presidential planes. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/19/u...

Amazing. He's really going with the "They're not subject to U.S. jurisdiction" argument. Just like people with diplomatic immunity. Who can't be charged with a crime. Anybody with that status who ever got so much as a parking ticket should sue the government and force them to defend the opposite.

Even if it wasn't guaranteed in the Constitution (which, of course, it is), it's enacted by statute (8 USC 1401(a). If they claim that they're "not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, then they'd presumably have to explain why it's okay to charge them with crimes.

Saw someone say that people couldn't have voted for fascism because most of them don't even know what fascism is. That's not how it works. They want (much of) what fascism is whether they know it's called that or not. And they voted for it because that's what they want. They voted for fascism.

Reminding myself that the ones to be mad at are the ones who voted for the fascists because they want the fascism and the ones who couldn't bring themselves to vote against the fascists because it would mean voting for someone who was black or a woman (or Indian or married to a Jew).

Can somebody explain why pretty much whenever I reply with 📌 so that I can find them again¹, somebody will like that response? Does that get picked up for them by the feed? It makes me hesitant to delete the replies when I no longer need them. ¹ Pretty please can we have bookmarks?

And just like that, here's the display on the Caltrain car on the way to tonight's Bay FC game. Sorry for the blurry picture. I grabbed it as we were leaving: "He's dead, Jim! Either Chrome ran out of memory or the process terminated for some other reason. To continue reload or go to another page."

This reminded me of the day, 1989-ish, when we turned on our TV to find "Guru Meditation ... Press left mouse button to continue." That's how we learned that at least the front end of Palo Alto's cable system was run on Commodore Amigas.

You are up to date.
