People seem to be against stories with mature topics that aren't just power-fantasy cathartic punishments towards anyone who wrongs the protagonist, who can do no wrong themselves.

#Helluvaboss I explained the first three eps of Helluva Boss s3 to my mom and we started debating whether Stolas can come back from this or not lol She’s SO pissed at him rn and is adamantly team Blitzø😭

Oh boy it’s already happening… “How could Stolas do this to Blitzø! He’s so awful!! He’s the worst!!!😡” His entire life literally just exploded guys. He’s lost literally everything including his daughter. He’s never been so low in his life and has to practically be force fed his happy pills.—

The man is not stable right now and is gonna make some questionable decisions, and he’s not even doing anything that bad yet tbh. Yeah it’s a bit inconsiderate that he didn’t talk to Blitzø about it given their situation, but Blitzø still isn’t necessarily owed that. They’re not in a relationship.—

Stolas established that boundary in the first ep and Blitzø accepted. You gotta be a little more patient with the bird, just like we had to be patient with Blitzø when it was his turn to be an inconsiderate asshole. They be MESSY🤷🏽‍♀️

I know it’s not that deep, but now that we know Al has some passive views on gender roles it’s interesting to see him be the chef(a subservient role) while Vaggi, the female character he clashes with most, is the captain(the main leadership role), yet he seems perfectly content and happy with that—

Despite all his talk, he IS content with letting someone else run the show as long as it’s not a threat to his security. It’s one of the reasons why he’s so antagonistic towards Lucifer, bc not only is Lucifer more powerful than him and tries to take over, but he also tries to push Alastor out in—

the process, threatening Alastor’s security and place at the hotel despite him not doing very much before. Basically his mindset is: I still want the option available to me even if I don’t want it. Atleast that’s what I think.

All this just kinda adds fuel to my suspicions that the main reason Alastor likes being strong and powerful and having some level of authority has less to do with domination and control for controls sake, but more to do with the comfort and security all that brings him.—

The knowledge that he is so strong, that ppl do generally see him as invulnerable, and that he COULD take the reins and be more of an authority IF he wanted to makes him feel safe and secure, even though he doesn’t really want the responsibility that comes with leading or ruling.—

It makes me think of what was said in the commentary about Alastor being a simple guy. How everyone expects him to do something sinister and crazy when most of the time he’s just existing in the background not doing anything. It also makes me think about how he went through so much trouble to gain—

power, but doesn’t really seem to be interested with ruling or taking over hell like Vox does. He just likes using his power to have fun, his twisted version of fun that is. He calls himself the host of the hotel, yet he rarely does anything and doesn’t seem to care about it all that much.—

The fact it's a whole battle scene and Alastor STILL CHOSE to make Lucifer's life miserable and throw him off board?? G A Y #radioapple

#Hazbinhotel #Alastor This is a TOP tier Alastor outfit to me. I love them turning his monocle into a sextant l, I love the boots, I love his chef hat, and I love his neckerchief. It’s all so peak!!!

#Helluvaboss #Stolas The evolution of Stolas going from repressing his sexuality to finally embracing it and feeling eager to explore it only to now use sex as a harmful coping mechanism bc he’s never felt so low and is desperate to feel something… AHH I FEEL LIKE IVE BEEN PUNCHED IN THE GUT!!

One last thought on Alastor’s misogyny for the night: What I find really interesting is that though Alastor does believe some sexist stereotypes, he still holds women in a higher regard than men despite that, seeing men as stupid brutes who suck, while he sees women as smarter and more pleasant ppl—

In short, Alastor’s mind is extremely warped due to multiple factors. His narcissism he likely developed due to past trauma, his views on what strength is that were either taught to him or he came up with as a way to protect himself, and the period typical misogyny ingrained into him that—

criteria on what strength is just based on the gender stereotypes he believes. He believes strength requires intelligence, sophistication, and tact but he also believes it requires invulnerability and a rough edge to do brutal things.

Other men can’t meet this criteria bc he thinks men are stupid, tactless, and too brutish to effectively use and keep their strength. Women can’t meet this criteria bc he thinks they’re too soft, nice, and vulnerable to do what needs to be done and they can easily break.

But he can’t ever really see women as his equal bc his narcissism doesn’t let him see ANYONE as his equal, and his ingrained misogyny and his personal criteria on what strength is reinforces that narcissistic belief that no man or woman can ever be on his level bc in his mind neither meet his—

He sees women as the "pure" gender while men are the "impure" gender and they are still expected to fall into certain expectations. It's why he's so antagonistic to Vaggi (who has stereotypically "masc" personality traits) And why he seems to lay off Angel (A Man who is Fem in both presentation

I mean I feel like he's a bit sexist when it comes to women, after all, we have to remember that idolization is still dehumanization and women can def be as predatory as men (ex.Rosie and Velvette) But its very clear that his sexism towards women is VERY different than his sexism towards men

Mini🧵 I’m glad we’re talking about Alastor’s misogyny bc it’s gen interesting but I need to get this off my chest bc it’s driving me crazy. Alastor does NOT get outsmarted by women bc he thinks they’re inherently dumb for being women. This man thinks he smarter than EVERYONE and thinks men are more—

It doesn’t really have anything to do with intelligence stereotypes but rather nature stereotypes. So when a brutish dangerous women(bonus points when they hide their brutality behind softness) Alastor gets knocked on his ass(as he should) bc he doesn’t ever suspect that.—

And bc those stereotypes about women are so ingrained in him from his timex he probably sees those moments as a “one off” or “special case” when that happens and goes back to thinking women are still generally more fragile.

stupid than women, it’s one of the reasons he likes talking to women more, bc they’re smarter. The reason he gets outsmarted by women is bc he’s been socialized to think women are inherently softer and more fragile ppl while men are inherently more brutish and barbaric.—

So though he likes hanging out with women bc they’re generally smarter and more pleasant than men, he doesn’t view them as genuine threat to his safety bc of the ingrained stereotype that women are naturally nicer and dainty ppl incapable of real harm.—

Viv in the commentary(paraphrasing): Alastor doesn’t like men and prefers to hangout with women, but he’s still a man from the 20s so he subconsciously thinks of women as more fragile and dainty. What some of the fandom is hearing for some reason: OMG ALASTOR IS A RAGING WOMEN HATER!!!!
