My copy of the new japanese #Macross #DoYouRememberLove 4K arrived today. My initial thrill was sadly muted though when I realized that we have another case of AI ruining everything. Why did they go through the effort of scanning the original 32mm at 5k when they planned on ruining it anyways?

I think they should have gone with a mostly hands off approach here. Now everything just looks way too soft. Grain is not a bug with this movie, it's a feature. Don't get me wrong, it's far from unwatchable, but why even make a 4K remaster if you are going to scrub away most of the detail anyway?

And even if some shots were slightly out of focus, so what? That was the way the movie was made. They had certain limitations with the equipment they used back in the day and that's part of the movies' history. Just accept it. Don't try to make it look like a modern anime, it isn't!

To clarify: This is nowhere near the worst example of shitty image destroying tinkering on par with something like Interstella 5555. I did pick the worst examples here. It appears they tried to sharpen certain out of focus shots of the movie and applied slightly too much DNR all around.

#IndianaJonesandtheGreatCircle has amazing visuals, beautiful open world segments, creative dungeons and pretty solid first person melee combat. So how about Todd just letting #machinegames make the next #elderscrolls?

I must say, that show called USA was pretty compelling so far but they are clearly jumping the shark with this new episode. The show always walked a fine line between satire and reality, but they are stretching my suspension of disbelief too far this time. Thank god it's just TV! #2024elections

After the #MonsterHunterWilds beta I can positively say that #DLSS and #Framegen is to gaming what heavy #DNR and #MotionSmoothing is to movies: A MISTAKE! Everything is a blurry, waxy mess and it encourages developers to not bother making their games run well, even on modern hardware.

During my ongoing re-playthrough of #NierReplicant I wondered if the game was somehow reading my birth date June 6th from my steam data, because it's identical with Nier's birthday mentioned in one of Yonah's letters. Turns out it's not only Nier's canonical birthdate but also that of #YokoTaro

#AlienRomulus was the weakest entry in the series for me so far. (not counting the AvP movies) The severe lack of creativity and distracting fan pandering killed it for me. Say what you want about Resurrection, Prometheus or Covenant, but at least those movies were interesting and weird.

Most of the potentially scary moments like aliens crawling in the background were constantly undermined by the score making damn sure that you don't miss them by going "BOOO!" all the time. The movie seemed to have very low trust in it's audience shown by all the fan catering and lack of subtlety.

Fan service was so bad at one point, it confused me into thinking they brought back a character from an older movie.(via bad deepfake) 10 min later it turns out: it is supposed to be a different character, but with the exact same wounds as the original character for 0 reasons other than pandering.

#GodzillaMinusOne winning an oscar, #GodzillaXKong being one of the only blockbusters that didn't flop this year, Criterion aquiring the rights to the first 4 showa era films, #ShinUltraman and now also #UltramanRising being pretty awesome. Are we entering a new golden age for kaiju cinema?

After the first two episodes I can positively say that I have not been so intrigued in a new Star Wars anything since Andor. #TheAcolyte actually feels like it's going somewhere. Nice!

It's called Blazemoon, a short animated video (about 3 to 4 minutes) about an alien warrior woman trying to rescue her alien girlfriend from a guy who wants to absorb her life essence to become a undefeatable monster... in space.

It has original japanese audio, a pretty good german dub (from apparently 1986) and even english subtitles. From what I could find, the name of the distributor is Cargo Records. The picture quality is pretty much as perfect as you can expect from a DVD. Certainly too good to be true.

I already wrote a mail to the label a few minutes ago and asked if they are planning to release the rest of the series. I doubt that I will get an answer but who knows. #Macross #german #dvd
