Well it finally fucking happened. I fought it for years, but when it's the water you swim in... Sigh... Yeah, so my name is Drew and I'm a podcastaholic. It's been zero days since the last time I purchased Bombas socks.

Walmart so far has received $2.9 billion in tariff refunds. Apple so far has received $2.2 billion in tariff refunds. Target so far has received over $990 million in tariff refunds. The list goes on. We don't have two political parties in the US. The party in power is a criminal enterprise.

My $0.02, but I think every medical professional who was associated with Christa Pike's botched death this week should have board certifications revoked. It's harder to take a license because those are controlled by the state, but there really ought to be professional consequences at bare minimum.

There should be a checkbox on dating web sites that you can filter search results by that is simply "in therapy: yes or no?" It would save so many ladies I know so much time. You know I'm right.

I'm not saying we're doomed, but I am saying that the November 3 election is officially compromised at this point with today's Supreme Court ruling. There's almost zero chance that there won't be disenfranchisement of legit voters in red states.

I did not expect that 2 games into the season this time, the Steelers and Browns would not only have the same record, but the Browns scored as many points today alone as the Steelers scored in both games. 😮‍💨🙄

It's sort of crazy living through two of the biggest foreign policy blunders of the last 20 years both of which Israel holds a lot of responsibility for (Iran and Gaza). Israel could have made their October 7 a international response that gave them security and also genuinely helped Gazans, but nope

I think that if it winds up human history ends with us stupid monkeys (shut up) giving enough resources to the worst among us to straight up race each other to build an actual species-destroying Doomsday machine, maybe us apes just climbed the wrong evolutionary tree and it's the cephalopods' turn.

Jared Kushner is not "on the other side of the aisle." He's not an elected official. He's not an administration official. He's the president's son-in-law and a private citizen. You do not, in fact, have to take meetings with relatives of the president. Some might even say you should *not* do that

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Jeffries defends his meeting with Kushner: "I'm of the view that if we're going to be committed to actually solving problems on behalf of the American people ... they're are gonna be times that you have to speak with people on the other side of the aisle. Even people you strongly disagree with."

The Trump regime blew up the rail bridge up ahead but on November 3 we can collectively put on the brakes and stop the train we're on before we go off the rails. On the other hand, people in Missouri don't even know what district they live in or who they can vote for in less than 60d. I'm worried.

I fucking love Carlin. I'll always be glad that I had the chance to see him do his thing on stage before he died. ...he would add here that it would REALLY be something to see him do it after! He was so good at flipping something in its head to give you his perspective.

Happy Labor Day! “The upper class keeps all the money and pays no taxes. The middle class pays all the taxes and does all the work. The poor are just there to scare the shit out of the middle class.” - George Carlin

I wonder why it is that Trump wants to put "renovated and restored by Donald Trump" on the Kennedy Center for which neither of those have been done, but doesn't seem to want his name associated with the Reflecting Pool which he actually had a big hand in (well, insofar as his hands are ever "big.")🤔

I know "buy me a coffee" is a fundraising thing but these days when I see something awesome on the Internet, I find myself more frequently wishing I could hand that person a strong margarita, a potent gummy, or maybe both. Things are not okay.

I figured the fascists would come. I honestly wasn't even totally shocked when they started winning. But to see the Keystone Cops version of the Nazis in charge wield profound power in profoundly stupid ways continually and with WAY too little institutional resistance blows my mind daily.

I hated losing Dolly, an angel on Earth. I hated losing Tim Curry, a one-of-a-kind acting talent. But there's a part of me on the third day that's thinking about how much better I would feel if I saw some celebration-worthy news about a different prominent 80 year old today...

I love that the outer limits of "vote blue no matter who" are being exposed by people who refuse to support El-Sayed for Senate. Seems like all of a sudden you don't hear that motto as often now that the MI Dem candidate is critical of Israel. share.google/HwZapX5YOPQH...

Last night on their evening newcast, NPR's All Things Considered aired a remembrance of Dolly Parton that was more than 11 minutes long. It was also glowing and beautiful. Live the kind of life where you get memorialized by a drag queen for 1/5 of NPR's biggest news show. #DollyParton #NPR

The fundamental breakdown in American democracy happened, in my mind, when the Republican party figured out that there were only two viable national political factions and so if they could stay large enough to win while purifying their ranks, it would cause chaos for the only other remaining party.

"They'll come to their senses," they tell themselves. "The fever will break." No, the problem is they figured out a way even before Karl Rove to erode their opposition through weakening the brand at its fundamental level.

That's why it's so easy for the Republicans, as a party, to speak with one voice. That's why you always know what their position is and it's always muddy what the Democratic one is. They defined themselves first and most clearly. Until we have Democratic leaders that can do that, we lose.

They were totally right. The Democratic party has been forced for decades to broaden itself and be the "big tent party" because it must. Can you imagine a pro-choice Republican? A gun control Republican? That's why the Democratic coalition is so unruly: it became, by necessity, a catch-all.

And the Democratic and Republican leaders both know that there are only two ways that resolves itself: collapse or reform of Republicans or more parties. Both major parties don't want to lose power, so Democratic party folks have bet on Republican reform for decades and it has not come.

The Kushner thing is such a crazy obvious misstep for Jeffries and it makes him not look ready for primetime. If that whole thing wasn't orchestrated to weaken Jeffries, I'll eat my hat. It was a meeting removed enough from Trump so that it couldn't hurt him, but leaking alone hurts Jeffries. Trap.

When history is written of this time long from now, much ink will be spilled over China's investment in pulling energy from the sun, air, and water as the US sourced its energy from its own ground. Eventually, China will use enough domestic renewables to sell all their mined resources then what?

And by the time English speakers figure that out, China and the world it controls will be happy to sell their excellent technology to the US...and laugh all the way to the bank while we catch up. If we lose the computing technology race, this will be why.

share.google/4z6AlA05lMyO... Don't understand this at all. Is Artificial Intelligence as a technology so critical that we must not only ignore climate change, but accelerate it further? We're now talking about putting devices in seas and oceans that will just heat them directly. What the actual fuck

Personally, I'm perfectly fine with all 2026 Democratic Senate candidates being a little quiet on court reform...for now. But it wouldn't hurt to start laying groundwork because in 2028 if you're not talking about adding justices to the Supreme Court, you don't deserve to be president.

I don't care what other leftist, liberal, or progressive plans you might have, all of them can be killed by the shadow docket so it and the Roberts Court that created it needs to be effectively ended as swiftly and thoroughly as possible.

The Supreme Court, as currently configured, is unaccountable, nakedly corrupt, and going out of its way to act politically. It needs to be treated accordingly. We cannot afford it the deference that has been given in past cycles. It will be our death knell. They'll fight it; let them.

Without changing the court in big ways (more justices, term limits, mandatory disclosures), they will undo any legislative or executive actions taken no matter how large of a win is secured. It's a big, glaring problem that must be dealt with.

If you're a Democrat in Congress right now and you aren't talking about how between the election denialism and the Fauchi hearing and contempt vote, the Republican party is looking backwards at 6 years ago and instead we're focusing on the 6 ahead, you're failing at politics.

Trump is supposed to do a televised address about "election security" tonight. If you think he won two presidential elections while Democrats sat in the oval office, but the Democrats somehow during COVID and secretly rigged the election while Trump was in office, we should play poker.
