Sad to see @chaosium.bsky.social has to put out notes on the use of AI for writing Community Content. The cc programs are a great way of amateurs like myself to get laboriously-crafted words into other people's hands. Getting a machine to do it just seems desperately sad. Buy some real stuff here:

Played a joyous game of Legend in the Mist from Son of Oak Game Studio today, recording for the channel. Look forward to tales of a bumbling beekeeper, sagacious mage and a happy-go-lucky chef (and boar) coming to a Youtube channel near you soon. 🐝🧙👨‍🍳🐗

With the new Neuromancer TV show on the way, I'm once again minded to look for a Cyberpunk game again. What is there currently - probably thinking more the indie lightweight space rather than hundreds of pages crunchy trad - in this kind of space I might not have heard of? (Not Red, *Borg, CBR+PNK)

I haven't read the novels, but the Slow Horses TV series continues to be largely strong. Good characters, performances, dialogue, humour. It does let itself down on the action / fighting scenes, where it can be, as the kids might say, cringe. This is my normal complaint of BBC shows, so shame really

Manual fog of war ready for Furnace RPG con this weekend. What path will our bold adventurers take to Pteradon Peaks? Only time will tell! Stone Age Savage Worlds ready to - literally - rock.

Congratulations to Dirk and Blythy on ten years of the show. Soon the GROGNARD files will be old enough that folk will talk of it with nostalgia, like pre-issue 120 White Dwarf magazine. Probably the truest thing Ste has even recorded "Oasis are okay live" - I'm glad someone finally said it.

It segues into the next bit of the 'cast though when you talk about seeking affirmation and so forth. I'm not going to retire on my writing, but when I sell on (often for a pittance) it makes me feel glad someone thought it worth the gamble. Even more so the thought they may enjoy it at the table.

And as a fellow small content creator, can I echo the warmth you get from a new review, kind comment, Patreon support etc. which does keep you fuelled in the dark winter nights when you wonder if you're just shouting into the void. Every word of mouth passing on that your thing exists is golden.

These days I can't read books cover to cover (unless it's something like AGON), but am shocked and appalled they never went through the self-inflicted drudgery and torture of reading every word of a rule book. Yes, Earthdawn I read it all, even high level spells. Get that achievement unlocked!

Writing adventures for someone else to read and/or use is hard if you care about your craft. There is a metric tonne of stuff on Drivethru spurted out in a haphazard way, but to have something out there a put your name to it is tough if you genuinely care. I'm struggling to say I'd recommend it! 😅

I think we need to send in more questions to get us past "Harrison Ford and Robert Redford" as the people who would play the lads in a film. Perhaps we can get listeners to send in their suggestions? The rose-tinted view is very apposite for the podcast though, so on brand. :-D

Good shout out on "What happened 1000 years ago" too. A lot of folk - especially around the highlighted Glorantha - seem to love lore-farming and being the most knowledgeable in the room about a setting. Which is fine, but a hobby in itself and often unhelpful to an RPG session at a convention.

Today marks another day around Sol, and as Logan Ninefingers would say, still alive. If you fancy celebrating with me, why not grab one of my scenarios off Drivethru (Vaesen, Savage Worlds, Call of Cthulhu, Tales From the Loop)? Maybe I'll accrue a new largely meaningless digital badge! 😅

Having binge watched the first four seasons of Game of Thrones over the last few days, it's not perfect although there's a lot to like. I'm not convinced by some deviations from the novels, but get TV is a different audience. 1/2

In both mediums though, I still don't understand why we are (I think) supposed to be on Team Daenarys all the way through. I don't feel the narrative supports why everyone falls over backwards to pander. And don't just steal her dragons for example. Why are they besotted instantly? Opinions welcome.

One of the things I like about Daggerheart (and other games too, but that's the one I'm noodling with) is having a toolkit system to make opposition for the PCs and lots of great examples of what that looks like in practice. Being able to dress up jaded baddies as new things with flavour is great!

Recording done on another podcast tonight, look out for thoughts on Daggerheart, 13th Age, Nimble and more coming to your earballs soon. (For a given value of soon, the Editing Kobolds are nothing if not lackadaisical.) Also managed a little bit of prep for AGON to be run at Furnace next month. 😁

If you want an idea of what QuestWorlds is like before you buy it for much cheapness, take a look at our fast-paced Actual Play where we set Age of Vikings setting ablaze with the QW rules set for some high-octane narrative adventures! youtu.be/0R1QtixmQRw?...

Great weekend at Owlbear & Wizards Staff this weekend. A game of Dolmenwood to try it out and then I ran Dragonbane in the afternoon (only one character murdered). Plus a nice curry on Friday and catching up in the pub on Saturday. Good to see some old friends and meet new ones 😁

Still not sure if I'll use maps for Dragonbane at the weekend for Owlbear and Wizards Staff, but I've had some lonely fun putting things together anyway 😄

Guess the year competition! Neither me nor my co-host can get in those t-shirts any more. In fact, even a few years ago they were more like crop tops. First seminar at Dragonmeet. Bonus points for guessing the topic.

Watching the South Park "World of Warcraft" episode to get my Daggerheart prep head space organised. Am I doing it right?

Great catching up with @trvshane.bsky.social talking about games, life and everything. Online gaming isn't as good as in-person, but it's better than none. Similarly, zoom isnt as good as meeting up face to face, but it's better than not connecting. As Bob Hoskins once said, it's good to talk.

Watching things like UFC you recognise that it's not grappling rules in #ttrpgs that are boring, it's the activity... More seriously, are there any good grappling rules? It feels like they should be an extended contest or you should use conflict resolution. Using task-based mechanics is unhelpful.

I'm clearly a big fan and advocate of Pendragon #ttrpg, and have run it regularly at conventions for (checks notes) decades (😲), so great to see the new edition doing better than Lancelot at a jousting tourney. What thoughts does everyone have on the new version? Or if you're new, what do you like?

It's sad personal times are the minute, and the world has gone to hell in a hand basket, but here to cheer me up is the slip case edition of Cold City and Hot War. About conflicting agendas, trust and the end times. Erm. Anyway, as the man said, if you're going through hell, keep going.

I guess while I'm on the topic of Vaesen-like adventures I should pimp my scenario Unbearable (bear pun entirely intended) as some lovely person bought a copy of it recently and it was my first mystery for that setting. Must do more soon! legacy.drivethrurpg.com/product/3638...
