I think it's so fascinating looking at the evolution of JRPS between the NES, SNES, and PS1. With NES JRPGs for the most part being focused on gameplay, with dialogue short there to guide you along, PS1 JRPGs focusing on stories with long dialogue scenes. and SNES being somewhere down the middle
