I’m under no obligation to give any brain cycles to people who can’t be bothered to be curious about what is happening around them. If you’re too unbothered to even ask questions about the world, I can’t be bothered to be your friend. It’s not about changing the world, it’s about personality.

Saw someone say, "End your friendships with people who are going about life like nothing is wrong." I will never understand people who think that further isolating ourselves from everyday people who don't get it is going to save us. It's not. Your judgment and disdain will not save us.

I learned media literacy as a kid. It was part of my school curriculum, and I had practical homework assignments to spot bias in newspaper reporting. I suspect it was for lots of other people, too. I wish they had paid more attention…

Obviously one must be careful in picking their sources. If all you do is watch Fox News, that’s bad. You also have to practice critical thinking. There’s a propensity for people to blame trad media “both sides-ing” issues, but if you can’t tell the difference between a legit argument backed by …

It can’t be a crisis if the branch of government that can do something about it refuses to even acknowledge that it’s a problem.

my view is that as soon as the administration froze disbursement of congressional appropriations we entered constitutional crisis territory

HUGE if true! This would be a massive story about media deliberately covering for Trump. It should be pretty easy to prove. Does anyone have any links to broadcasts from outside the US hosted on their corporate websites showing this? (Probably not. I doubt this happened. Hoping to be wrong though!)

When social media exposes traditional media’s deceit, it’s time for independent journalists to investigate why the press is backing a president who undermines free press—and is it coordinated?

2) Trump actually got cheered, but someone on social media replaced the audio with fake boos, posted it to social media, and it got reposted because people *WANT* to believe that Trump got booed? If you think 1) is more likely, you really need to spend less time online.

Ask yourself, honestly, which is more likely: 1) That all traditional media (print, digital, radio, TV) unanimously agreed (with NO LEAKS) to cover for Trump by overlaying cheering when the Trump made an appearance but someone on social media scooped this story with the “real” soundtrack, or…

1) Venn diagram of NFL and Trump is a near circle. ⭕️ People keep underestimating the popular support Trump has. It’s delusional. All the evidence is that Trump and his ilk are actually hugely popular. 🤮 2) Who cares about Tom Cruise?!

God@thegodshow.com

NOTES: 1. Donald was not booed, I’m sure the NFL threatened people with ejection beforehand 2. Tom Cruise did the introduction for the Super Bowl so the NFL could squeeze some more sponsorship money out of Mission Impossible and Scientology.

If democrats win the two special elections in Florida, the house will be tied 217 and 217 and Trump will not get his agenda passed in the House. Election day is April 1st. District 1 and District 6. The nominations are Gay Valimont and Joshua Weil. THIS IS WHAT WE CAN DO.

A message to career federal employees: DO NOT RESIGN. Not even in protest. Definitely don’t take “a deal”. He doesn’t care if you quit, you’re not sending a message. Force him to fire you, without cause. It slows his Project 2025 agenda of replacing all career service employees with loyalists.

Also, firing you may open his cronies to legal jeopardy. And don’t worry about being rehired. The only places you would want to work already know why you were fired and know you are actually good and faithful workers. I’d hire you in a heartbeat, and I’ll keep my eyes open for good people!

Leavitt reading a statement from the WH regarding drones over New Jersey: All were authorized by the FAA. They were for research, hobbyist, recreational, and private use. “This was not the enemy.” Well no shit. Also, who is “The Enemy”? /rhetorical The Press. The press is the enemy. Right?

The thing is, Netanyahu can unilaterally decide to end the Gaza campaign any time. Which he is doing now to support the narrative that his buddy Trump ended the war. And the protest voters aren’t going to see the lie. They will only see that the bombing has ended.

Jon Cooper@joncooper-us.bsky.social

The Trump White House has reportedly instructed the Pentagon to release the hold imposed by the Biden administration on the supply of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel. Where are all those college protests now? 🤷

I fundamentally do not understand non-voters. It is self-defeating behavior. Always vote. Vote 3rd party or write-in over *not* voting. No 3rd party will ever get support if all the anti-2-party protest votes just stay home. Not voting cedes the only power you have.

William B. Fuckley@opinionhaver.bsky.social

I do think that a bit of intra-coalitional bridge building that should be done is to admit that while not voting is dumb and bad, some (definitely not all) of the things that motivate anti-voting leftist types are valid complaints about the way a two-party system structures people's options.

I’m telling everyone: Do not open the door or say a word unless you’re expecting someone and know exactly who it is. Know your rights. Pass these around…

This is vile. The United States has a moral obligation to provided aide and assistance to the Afghans who provided the US with aide and assistance.

The Trump administration abruptly halted services for refugees in the United States, including Afghans, according to a memo obtained by CNN, stunning agencies that provide critical support to recent arrivals: cnn.it/42sjEeQ

If you had outrage fatigue before, prepare yourself. Judging by the last week, the next four years are going to be exhausting. Also, it’s okay to focus on one issue and leave other issues to other people. One bite at a time…

If it wasn’t a Nazi salute, he would have explicitly said so. Instead, he prevaricated and equivocated. He used a “tu quoque” logical fallacy in his own defense.

Many people crying about TikTok and not being able to trust it if it comes back. Trust? I’m under no illusion that TT, Twitter, Bsky, or FB deserves *trust*. It’s not the news, it’s not truth, it’s not objective. It is ENTERTAINMENT. If you realize that, social media has no hold over you.

It’s funny how a handful of “wholesome cultural exchanges” on RedNote has everyone getting amnesia about what kind of country China is and who is actually in control over there. The only reason to use RedNote is to expose the lie.

Did you get added to a list called “$3.19 - rat fried rice”? I can’t say what the rationale is (probably just engagement - any attention is good attention, amiright?), but if you subscribe to a @listifications.app list, then you’ve been added to the moderation list. @bodegasupport.bsky.app

Protests in Georgia have entered their 42nd day, people across cities like Tbilisi, Batumi, and Kutaisi demand new elections and the release of detained protesters. Communities from all over the country continue to stand up for themselves. This is what a nation looks like. #GeorgiaProtests

The idea that online misinformation is overblown is itself misinformation.

Will Oremus@willoremus.com

Still wild to me that so many "savvy" folks on left and right have bought into the idea that online misinformation is overblown and doesn't really matter. From lies about migrants to transgender people to crime to election denial to climate denial, it's literally driving our country's politics.

If you use a website to stay in touch with someone you haven’t talked to in 20+ years, who lives 100s of miles away, who you won’t ever visit or won’t visit you, and you don’t talk to on the phone, are you really “friends?” Dump Facebook.

Some relationships aren’t meant to last forever, and the notion that you are friends with people you can’t be bothered to actually talk to face-to-face is a lie. At best, it’s voyeurism, and often it’s just to make you feel better about your own life choices in contrast to people you left behind.

I left Facebook in 2018 in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal. They sold out democracy and deserve to rot. Honestly, I don’t miss it at all. In fact, I run a VPN that blocks all meta domains, so I couldn’t go back even if I wanted to.

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Honestly surprised people are freaking out over Facebook. I left it because it became a far right hellsite like 5 years before Twitter did. It's been that way for a very long time.
