Hi, I'm Faith Erin Hicks, I write & draw comics. Published works include The Nameless City trilogy, Friends with Boys, Pumpkinheads, Ride On, Hockey Girl Loves Drama Boy & more. I also write Avatar: The Last Airbender comics. You can find my comics at your local library or wherever books are sold!

Super weird experience today. Gave my presentation at the Writer’s Festival, talked about Inbetweens, how it’s based on my experience going to animation college and btw, I went to school with the director of KPop Demon Hunters —- and a bunch of the kids booed & yelled they hated the movie??

I guess the kids hate KPop Demon Hunters now???? I stumbled through the rest of my presentation, because even tho it’s not *me* getting booed it still doesn’t feel great getting yelled at on a public stage. Guess I’m just gonna sit on the couch, eat a Lee’s Donut & process for the rest of the day.

The livestream of my masterclass starts at 10:15 pst today and it's FREE! See me talking about my career & comic making process & do some drawing!

Reminder that there is a livestream of my comics talk at the @writersfest.bc.ca tomorrow at 10:15 PST, which I believe is free? I watched @piaguerra.bsky.social & @ianboothby.bsky.social 's talk yesterday from the comfort of my drawing desk, it was a good listen. writersfest.bc.ca/festival-eve...

The very last task I had at BioWare before I left to pursue a new opportunity was to paint this pose of Solas embracing the Inquisitor (I didn't paint this entire image, it was just the figures). Even at the time it felt poignant that this would be my last contribution to Dragon Age.

at the end of the day, i still have this

I am undone. Discovering Dragon Age got me through the pandemic. The world and characters got under my skin in a way I've never experienced before. I think about them all the time. It was one of the best things to ever happen to me, I am not kidding.

Having a great time reading this "nazis vs ancient evil" book from the 1980s, exactly the sort of thing I'm in the mood for during spooky season. Curious to check out the movie as well.

Did not expect this book to go full YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE to George Lucas at the end. Fairly or unfairly, he invested in technology that would replace human beings with CGI, because he apparently didn't like working with people. Frictionless filmmaking indeed.

Currently listening to The Last Kings of Hollywood, which despite being set 50 years ago reminds me a lot of what the current entertainment industry is going through: Hollywood in severe decline & a few nerds & (often drug addicted) visionaries try to sieze the means of movie production.

Francis Ford Coppola comes across as a huge asshole, surprising no one. Everyone is a little ruined by their own success, but the meet cute between Kathleen Kennedy & Frank Marshall is adorable.

My cat does this thing where when I go to clean her litter box she jumps into it and pees right in front of me, then spends several minutes fussily pawing at the litter before trotting away. Such a brutal display of dominance.

(my brain has been catastrophizing about the slop machine & its impact on the arts/humanity in general and the internet has ofc made my anxiety even worse so I just wanted to do a comfort post about my cat 😭)

Ok. Trying to switch to Firefox because seeing Chrome's ehy eye shit all over that browser is driving me crazy. If anyone has any tips, pls send em my way. I'm pleased there's a handy "import all your passwords from Chrome" option.

Really liked the first two episodes of Avatar: Seven Havens. Interesting set up and worldbuilding, I’m curious to see where it goes. It wasn’t what I was expecting and that’s always a treat.

Considering how negatively ATLA fandom responded to Korra as a character it feels very thematically rich to initially have her blamed for a huge in-world cataclysm. I’m guessing there’s lots more to the story, looking forward to seeing how it plays out. Avatar is back, baybeee!

Oh shit I am so sorry I forgot to thank you! So many apologies, it wouldn’t be the same book without your colours! 😭
