Colour me surprised when it turned out to be a violent coming of age story about an Elvis-loving tomboy. How very relatable. It's violent and sad and funny and smart mouthed. It felt like it came from a place of real, thoughtful exploration on the part of Dennis Hopper. Linda Manz is outstanding.

I watched some gay movies I didn't know were gay. Out of the Blue (1980). I didn't know anything about it except that Dennis Hopper directed it and Natasha Lyonne/Chloë Sevigny had a hand in crowdfunding its restoration.

I love that there is this sudden desire for butches/studs/mascs in the community, which is very different from when I was growing up. There was an openly expressed disgust towards butches in the 2000s scene by... everyone. I was one of 3 that was swapped around.

I love Rathmines. I just got a pastel de nata from the pastel de nata street vendor, who exists, and excitedly showed me his Irish Times write up "Thats my grandfather! traditional Portuguese pastel de nata with Kerrygold Irish butter!!" I know they aren't traditionally €3 but thats Dublin for you
