I want to like Nushell so bad but the fact that so many things still need POSIX-compatibility, plus the fact that Nushell itself is very monolithic, makes it very hard to keep using it. And not supporting basic shell features like && command chaining just adds insult to injury.

I tried Kagi Translate initially for the LinkedIn meme, but it actually blew me away once I tried the product seriously. How is this so much better than Google Translate? Like it absolutely blows anything else I've used out of the water.

You can't... repeal... a scientific finding. At that point it's just called lying about it.

Breaking News: The Trump administration repealed the bedrock scientific finding that greenhouse gases threaten human life and well being, meaning that the EPA can no longer regulate them. nyti.ms/4rSszQu

Recently discovered an RTS game called Beyond All Reason. What initially captured my interest was hearing that it was fully free and open source (GPL-licensed). But after actually playing it, I became even more enamored by it. I feel like it might just become my next obsession.

Pewdiepie getting into local LLMs and also learning programming was never in my 2025 bingo card, but holy shit is it awesome as hell to see.

On another note, I've been eyeing NixOS lately, unsure if I should make the jump.

Hot take: If you're using Arch, you probably shouldn't be using install scripts written by someone else (except archinstall). If you think Arch is too inconvenient to use without an install script, a different distro might suit you better. Fedora is awesome, give it a try. [1/3]

Not trying to be an elitist or gatekeep here. I want more people to use Linux. Arch is for a very specific type of person, anyone outside that demographic using Arch might suffer in the long run. Because when things break in Arch, you ultimately have to fix it yourself. [2/3]

This is why I avoid recommending Arch to new Linux users. It's best to let people get accustomed to Linux before they use something that requires more maintenance. I love that distros like Omarchy are bringing more people into Linux, but at the same time it kinda scares me. [3/3]

The more time passes the more the passing of Daniel Naroditsky hits me. It's awful that a person as talented and charming as him died so young. Genuinely, Vladimir Kramnik can go rot in hell, what a vile piece of shit.

Switched from Hyprland to Niri, absolutely love the scrolling TWM paradigm. Can't believe I didn't try it out earlier. This is so awesome.

People on social media complaining that inclusive groups aren't really inclusive would benefit from learning about the paradox of tolerance

I know my followers are mostly Neovim guys but if I livestreamed Silksong speedrun attempts would anyone be interested in watching?

Usually I find that ChatGPT can't do basic things humans can easily do. Today, it helped me with an issue with a game not working properly on Linux that no human could help me fix. It hallucinated a lot and I still had to steer it, but I was legitimately blown away by the result.

The fact that Silksong has caused not one, but TWO game delays is really hilarious to me. The release of Silksong really is a cataclysmic event in the gaming industry.

Chat, is ClankerTinker a good name for a project that lets you make multiple LLMs play characters and interact with each other?

I tried out AI-augmented coding. While it's pretty neat and certainly helpful, AI sucks at so much basic shit that I'm absolutely convinced anyone who thinks that AI will make programmers irrelevant is either being dishonest or hasn't written a real program at all.

My personal verdict after trying out LLMs for coding with OpenCode + Claude 4 Sonnet: It's pretty dang neat. It's not gonna replace programmers anytime soon, but it has the potential to make dev work a lot less tedious and a lot more fun, depending on how you use it.

I'm an absolute idiot. I get GitHub Copilot Pro for free due to being an open source maintainer. I CAN LITERALLY USE CLAUDE 4 SONNET FOR FREE, WHY AM I COMPLAINING ABOUT IT COSTING TOO MUCH.

What's the best model to use with Opencode? I tried both Qwen 3 Coder and Kimi K2 and frankly did not have a good experience. It just seems to randomly stop in the middle of working. I don't really want to use Claude because the API costs are too high for me.

LLMs are really good rubber ducks. I'll explain an idea to the, and most of the time it will respond with useless stuff. But explaining the idea to it helps clarify that idea in my head. And even the bad responses nudge me to come up with original and better ideas on my own.

I ended up spending 6 hours yesterday drafting a power system for a Science Fantasy Novel I want to write. And I can say that I feel really proud of what I've come up with. Does anyone know of any place where I could get feedback on my worldbuilding? I am desperately in need of some good feedback.

I understand people not wanting to talk about anything political, I really do. But when thousands of people are being starved to death, we all have a moral imperative to speak out, even if that is the smallest form of resistance that we can show against such brutality. [1/3]

To everyone who has remained silent on Palestine so far, I get it, really. But if this was happening to you or your family, I'm sure you'd want people to speak out against it. Being apolitical is not a sufficient enough reason to excuse being silent about a genocide. [2/3]

I'm sure I'll get called woke, anti-semitic, Nazi, all at the same time. But I don't have the luxury to care about what people label me as anymore. The minuscule amount of humanity I have within me compels me to speak out against something I find harrowing and unforgivable. [3/3]

Tried out Signal and SimpleX for the first time recently. Love both for different reasons. Signal works amazingly well as a privacy-respecting messaging app, whereas SimpleX seems to shine when you really need maximum anonymity (if you're a whistleblower or activist). [1/2]

At a time where countries all over the world are trying to pass Orwellian surveillance laws and denying us our privacy, it's more important than ever to do your damnedest to reclaim these rights, and that starts with using platforms that respect your privacy. [2/2]

Mamdani: I would say that for the former governor to have spent an entire day speaking almost exclusively about me and barely about the New Yorkers who have been killed is indicative of the very politics New Yorkers want to leave in the past.
