This book should not be making me analyze it. But the insane unreliable narrative and bias for Lila feels like the author was obsessed with the great Gatsby. Putting a person on a pedestal while feeling inferior and watching them from a distance. But said "why not have both parties suffer this"

the book title is cruel. elena constantly views Lila as the brilliant friend who is effortlessly talented even after her education is cut off. But to Lila, Elena is the hardworking brilliant friend who keeps pursuing academics that Lila won't ever have opportunities to pursue due to poverty.

Lilas Dissolving margin seems to be derealization fading. Awakening from a dreamlike state of an "after" where her life is better unlike the "before"s. Depressing that the first instance is her discovering who Rino is past her love for him. But from an outsider perspective
