Raise minimum wage by 50¢ each quarter for the next ____ years until that $7.25 (from 2009) number grows to match inflation since 2009. Tiny jumps using well-defined timeframes would be much easier for companies large and small.

Wolf Hour@wolfhour.bsky.social

"No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country. By living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level - I mean the wages of decent living." .. (Franklin. D. Roosevelt) ..(cartoon Nick Anderson)

Walmart has 1.6 million US employees. Giving each of them a 50¢ per hour pay hike would run about $3 billion per year. That would lower their gross profit from $169 billion to $166 billion. Do it 4 times in a year and their gross profit goes from $169B to $157B.

So many memes and posts here on Bluesky about the voter "purge" here in Texas. Turns out it is normal and routine voter data hygiene - if you moved, didn't notify the SoS, and your voter card was returned, then your registration is suspended (not purged). Here's a great article about the process.

Texas’ voter suspense list has sparked claims of election shenanigans, but the list is a routine part of the state’s voter registration system. Here’s what it means if you’re on the suspense list, and how to get off it. elpasomatters.org/2026/09/01/t...

Wow. If this lady’s parents had universal healthcare, she might not have been orphaned before she became a teenager.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

these people booing sound like literal sheep as Darline Graham criticizes Dr. Annie Andrews for supporting "government-run healthcare" before bragging of her parents that "if they were sick, they had to get up and go to work...my mother passed away when I was 11 and my father just over a year later"

I hope I never need this information, but I’m bookmarking this page just in case.

When an insurance company is deciding whether to pay for your medical treatment, it generates a file, which should contain all records associated with your case, including documents explaining why the claim was denied. You have a right to see this file. (Published May 2023)

10-20 times as much hypocrisy on the Republican side as there is on the Democratic side.

NEW: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton appears to have used an address where he did not live while voting in six elections in the past two years — despite warning voters that “it is illegal to misrepresent your residence on election records.” with @texastribune.org

If I ever marry again, I’m going to be absolutely sure to invite Mar🐪 in order to avoid being called out like this.

Mark Hamill@markhamillofficial.bsky.social

Congratulations to the newlyweds! I declined to attend the wedding for a variety of personal reasons, but mainly because I wasn't invited. 💒

I am absolutely loving the new attitude in the Hunter Biden Twixxer account. Is it really him? I hope so. And if it is him, the Democratic Party really needs to use this persona in election campaigns across the country

Operation Distract Americans From the Epstein Files has gone too far. Congress and Vance need to invoke the 25th amendment now. Today. This morning. The OrangeFelon cannot be allowed to remain in power.

The hypocrisy on the right is just never ending.

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

Just a reminder that the senator who sponsored the bill which became law with broad bipartisan support that states a president cannot pull the US out of NATO without congressional approval was … Marco Rubio.

Tell me something good that's happening in your life right now. I'll go first. Another one of the rooms in my house will have built in bookshelves on three walls. Almost every room in my house has bookshelves, but until now only one has walks of built-ins. Now there will be more! ♥️📚

What a powerful video.

Has any House Speaker ever refused to seat a newly elected representative?

Jen Bendery@jbendery.bsky.social

I know there's a lot going on, but it's crazy that Mike Johnson is still refusing to swear in Rep-elect Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.), who won her election on Sept. 23. He could have done this at any time, even amid the government shutdown. But he won't. Unprecedented.

Why the word “modern” in the last sentence?

This secret police stuff really sucks. Seems like we're not supposed to have that here.
