So. *ahem* I've been super vocal about mental health in the past, talking about depression, AuDHD and everything on camera, trying to raise awareness, provide representation etc. and then I fell silent for... over a year. It's because I was diagnosed bipolar. And well... (⅙)

And this is where I'm supposed to say that now it's all fixed and that this is why I'm talking about it but it's not. It's hard. I'm able to be functional and productive and that's good. I'm surrounded by people who care for me and support me and I feel so lucky and humbled. But it sucks. (⁴⁄₆)

So yeah, I guess I was waiting to feel like I had solved the issue and for me to feel like I'd gotten over it to start and publicly talk about mental health again and it is now clear that this is not gonna happen so, might as well break the silence now. (⁵⁄₆)

...re: all the other tentative diagnoses I was able to have hope, feel a sense of community and belonging, to see it as just a different deck of cards, perhaps even seeing the difference as a strength but with bipolar it hit me much harder. (²⁄₆)

I had had bad experiences around friends with bipolar, I saw it as sentence, not a variant, I felt irreparably different from others, incapable to relate to them and them to me, I took the meds, I did the work and I only saw modest improvements... and I lost hope. (³⁄₆)

I should probably find a shrink with whom I can discuss gender stuff and poly stuff because that is relevant to my health, but at the same time whomst among us doesn't have an adversarial relationship with their script dispenser?
