Perhaps there should be investigations? Does the government serve the people or not? These are not unbelievable allegations, these are allegations of the same federal agencies carrying out the same criminal acts against the exact same groups of civilians targeted in the past. Enough is enough!

It doesn’t matter who’s in charge. FISA 702 can’t be renewed without real reforms. Case in point: Trump’s latest nominee for director of national intelligence was peddling election conspiracies just a few days ago.

Breaking: Trump says he's nominating Jay Clayton, the current U.S. Attorney for the SDNY, to be Director of National Intelligence. Just this week on CNBC, Clayton said the "American people are right to question" California's elections. To be clear: There is no evidence of fraud in those elections.

An update on where things stand on FISA: Early Friday morning, we successfully defeated a bill in the Senate to rubber-stamp the Trump administration's authority to spy on Americans without a warrant. This is a big win on privacy.

Congress should let it die. Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) was passed in 2008 as a counterterrorism measure, but has a long history of abuse from the federal government, especially when it comes to surveillance. Congress has a choice to make: Will they greenlight warrantless mass surveillance, or hold the line and reject any effort to move forward without serious privacy guardrails? FISA as it is currently written: Allows warrantless backdoor surveillance of people in and out of the country Offers little to no protections against the administration targeting critics, activists, religious minorities, or communities of color Actively chills our freedoms of speech and association Two years ago, this reauthorization legislation sailed through Congress with bipartisan support. That can’t happen again. Let your Members of Congress know you expect them to reject reauthorization unless it includes significant reforms to protect our civil liberties against this authoritarian regime.
