🚀 How can we identify the brain regions that truly drive neural dynamics?
New results from the NERV Lab show that complex brain networks can be efficiently controlled through a surprisingly small set of dimensions 🔍🧠
👉 doi.org/10.1371/jour...#Neuroscience#BrainNetworks
For today's Methods Primer we will have @fdevicofallani.bsky.social talking about Duality in Complex Networks, discussing unappreciated topological properties of interconnected systems, and how those properties can be used across fields, from systems biology to neuroscience.
🚀 How does timing shape our connection with machines?
Imagining a movement just after a robot acts boosts brain decoding & the feeling of control 🧠🤖

How structure hides in complexity 🧩
Using hyperbolic projections of multilayer networks, NERV Lab researchers reveal new patterns across brain & social systems.

Layers, nodes… or both? 🌐
🧠 We explored node–layer duality, a framework revealing how multilayer networks can be understood from two complementary views.

🚀 Excited to share that our project RECOVER has been selected for the Santé France 2025 program by the AXA Fund for Human Progress!
We’re developing non‑invasive brain‑computer interfaces to boost post‑stroke recovery.

More on the link brain-heart axis and sensorimotor function, relevant for BCI research 🤖: Different bodily rhythms are coupled with cortical regions at rest. Here we show that motor imagery triggers a decoupling of cardiac dynamics with motor cortex functional connectivity 🧠🫀 doi.org/10.1101/2025...
Had a great time presenting our work on the curse of dimensionality in network controllability @bernsteinneuro.bsky.social
Thanks samirsuweis.bsky.social and organizers for setting up this special event and for the smooth organization.

Left or right - which one is more connected?
Most say left, but here’s the twist: both have the same number of connections!
Why does one looks more connected? It’s all about #spatiality – how links occupy space.
Dive into our latest @pnasnexus.orgt.ly/JzRsc
#computationalgeometry We establish analytical relations between the number of connections in a spatial network and their total length (Supplementary Text 1).
#graphtheory We demonstrate that for geometric random graphs the edge-crossing scales with the square of the number of connections (Supplementary Text 4).

#networkscience We introduce a model based on the concept of progressive cost, where adding a new link becomes increasingly expensive as the network becomes denser (Fig 4).
#neuroscience Reflecting biological resource constraints, we show that progressive-cost models more accurately capture the key properties of brain networks (Fig 5).

So many broad insights and implications on :
#dataviz We provide an unbiased criterion to filter complex networks that is compliant with common human perception (Fig 1-3)
A needed review on the topic!
May I suggest that the first work using functional brain connectivity for person identification is 2014 and not 2015.
I m sure expliciting this would make such a great service to the community.
Honored to have been awarded the BCI Society Early Career Award 2025! 🧠✨
