The USA had more babies in 1957 than it did last year — with half as many women to have them. Every month of US births since 1933. The three lowest years on record are the last three, and November 2025 is the emptiest month on the map. Data: @hmdatabase.bsky.social + CDC

In 1969 the most common US first-time parents were a 21-year-old mother and a 22-year-old father. By 2024 the peak sits at 30 and 30. It didn't just move, it dissolved: the ten most common pairings covered a fifth of first births in 1969, half that today. #dataviz #demographics #fertility

So the school district really wanted to avoid discovery of email (were there parent complaints or just rage machine?), and were willing to throw in an extra 25k to not apologize. *slow clap* What nice people.

Cat's working on getting her family to a new stable option, but the universe and a year of bad job market mean some urgent needs. If anyone is in a position to throw some $$ her way that will reach her in the next couple days you'll be helping a small family and making the world a nicer place.

Cat got dealt a bad hand in the early federal cutbacks while still in the process of getting onto stable footing and could really use a bit of #assistance while getting to a new stable state. If you're in a position to help or are looking for someone who talks to both techies and non-tecies...

Cat Bailey has been working to keep the lights on since the early 2025 mass layoffs and is trying to keep a storage unit with her deceased ex's estate in place for one of her children. If you're in a spot to toss a bit of dosh that way every bit helps. infosec.exchange/@hotarubiko/...

@nbcnews.com #kornacki WRONGLY keeps saying the Dems need a 22 point swing, no, they need an 11 point swing to address the 22 point margin. 9 point shifts in the very Republican counties is close to that 11 point shift.

Listening to coverage of Mr "Kill the cops" being hired by the #Trump admin, I can't help but ponder their reaction if a satire content creator started hyping a "Day of Love to welcome Congress back from their summer break." Think they'd feel it was a threat? #politics #Jan6

@maddow.msnbc.com re: Mr "his own assistant" is anyone pursuing charges for double-dipping? Those are separate paid positions and I'm pretty sure the DOJ isn't set up to allow volunteers.

@chrislhayes.bsky.social re: memecoins and any crypto, remember that all blockchain transactions have an associated cost in electricity to be processed by miners and become part of the blockchain. Those transaction fees can float, so if a coin drops too low watch out....

@lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com re: "no tax on overtime," you might find it worthwhile looking at what jobs regularly do get a LOT of overtime. Hint: they're in the news regularly, sometimes it's even related to the amount of overtime they're paid for.

@bugcounter.bsky.social re: coin in ice, freeze a mostly empty water bottle on its side, then keep it upright in the freezer. Any melting at all will result in ice at the bottom.

@kairyssdal.bsky.social re:Apple's spending, was any of that going to also get funds from Biden-era legislation? A bit of bronzer stroking to save that? And re: 5 things last week, one agency reportedly said [IF you respond assume it's read by a hostile foreign power]
