If I had my brain in when I took these photos, I would have realised that there were two models of two different HMS #Achilles opposite one another. The light cruiser was difficult to photograph (glass case + lighting), so you will have to make do with its Walrus and catapult.

I did a survey there once (the priory, not the 'Abbey')

🧵Ellerton Priory was a small, poor Cistercian nunnery in Swaledale, founded around 1200 and housing only about 13 nuns at its peak (and as few as five by 1381). Following the priory's surrender to the Crown in August 1536 and its formal dissolution in 1537. the site underwent a dramatic shift in

Let me put it like this: If you are more concerned with "fairness" in sports than with the right of folks to freely participate in society, your priorities are seriously fucked and you should work on yourself a little. And it's not the job of the rest of us to hold your hand while you do it.

"This could have been an email." Aragorn whispers. "He ALWAYS pulls this shit in 'Any Other Business" Boromir replies, quietly. "It's why Faramir marked himself as busy when the invite went out."

Yes, I will die on the hill of "Fuck off & stop internetifying literature". Yes, I will die on the hill of "The intended reader had no problem with reading long paragraphs in an EL Doctorow or Dorothy Lessing novel in 1974 & the intended reader will have no problem reading them in my novels either."

No matter how often I do this train journey, I cannot go past the field with the causewayed enclosure in it without thinking 'I scheduled that'. #AMAA1979

A lot of the 'extras' doing the fast roping scene in Black Hawk Down were the same Rangers who fast roped into Mogadishu on the day in question. Some of the Little Bird pilots were the same, too. The US military were happy to cooperate so long as they took the friendly fire scenes out.

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

To facilitate these projects, thousands of tonnes of stone were shipped daily around the shores and rivers of England. Despite this, surviving shipwrecks are rare, limiting our knowledge of 13th-century trade networks 2/2 🆓 doi.org/10.15184/aqy...

I can only reiterate, if anyone thinks these ghouls will stop at trans people, they’re delusional. This ‘person’ would have been right at home on the drafting team for the Nuremberg Race Laws.

Gaza has revealed to us that if they can greenlight and support this atrocity in Gaza, they can do it anywhere. They can do it to any one of us whom they deem as subhuman.

🧵With a big thank you to Dr Mel for this. How have I not visited this? Rooley Moor Road, Rochdale or The Cotton Famine Road, is a lasting reminder of hardship, resilience and solidarity. During the Lancashire Cotton Famine, caused by the disruption of cotton supplies during the American Civil War,

Listening to a radio adaptation of the Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman* and now I can't stop whistling Lilibulero... * The book is better, obviously, but harder to engage with whilst cooking/cleaning etc. and it is interesting to hear someone else's interpretation.

If they also forget your anniversary*, that cancels it out, right? Right? * It was some time ago. In my defence, I didn't realise what month we were in at the time.

'made it easier' now involves accessing a QR code, downloading an app and repeatedly jabbing an unresponsive 'Submit' button, rather than either just going and picking it up or making a quick phone call. Why must everything be enshittified?

This #Thread is really important and a brave attempt to summarise a far from simple situation. Please give it a read.

Call me a masochist, but I'm returning to this issue, as I feel it has been poorly understood. Please read the whole thread before responding. First, I hope we can agree that the Israeli government is committing genocide in Gaza and horrific crimes in the West Bank and the wider region.

I reckon I would watch this, yes... (watched the Patrick Stewart version at the weekend. They could keep the tradition and cast him as Father Mapple).
