I'm glad Chow won. Her caring vision has delivered real gains. But Bradford’s 40% deserves a hearing: reliable travel, lived safety, value for taxes, and a voice for those beyond the core. Her next term should show those who didn’t vote for her that their concerns can shape her decisions.

The best fighter isn’t automatically the best choice for Canada. Beyond the 16 F-35s they'vecommitted to, Carney’s review must weigh missions, dependence on Washington, and room to invest in future capabilities. Technical excellence matters. So does freedom to act.

Americans choose their government. People impacted by its policies have a right to be heard. Canadian advocacy isn't election interference. Leaders need to explain that distinction even when their words risk distortion. Democracy needs informed citizens, not sterile assurances.

Canada and the EU are building alternatives to American suppliers in sensitive sectors. What independence do we gain if US companies can buy those alternatives? Stelco shows why ownership matters. Investment and procurement policies need matching safeguards against losing control.

CBC's Darren Major does us an extreme disservice. The headline may be accurate, but without a sincere and competent evaluation of the concerns expressed, this is not new, it's just fanning the emotional flames.

On the one hand, AIs do make mistakes. On the other, we know Meta is absolutely ok with killing people to sustain high profits. I suspect Zuck wouldn’t care about something like this. I’m shocked to see people using Muse!

How long before all American businesses go onto the same lists as Chinese firms like Huawei ... governmnet controlled weapons to be excluded from any sensitive sectors?

Republican politicians are *obsessed* with schoolchildren coming home a different gender because of pro-trans teachers, WHICH NEVER HAPPENS. But they are completely indifferent to schoolchildren not coming home *at all* because of guns, WHICH HAPPENS ALL THE TIME!

The new season of *The Diplomat* feels like a call to action. Democratic institutions embody hard-won lessons, but they cannot defend themselves. That takes people willing to question, speak, and act. Democracy isn't a spectator sport. What are each of us prepared to do?

Democracy depends on free people informing themselves, debating differences, and choosing their future. How do we defend that process against manipulation without sacrificing its freedoms? A Canada–EU charter with other middle powers could make democratic resilience a shared commitment.

The postwar international order is fracturing. We can now see both its achievements and its failures. Canada, Europe and other middle powers have an extraordinary opportunity: not simply to defend the old order, but to build something better. Let's make the Montreal summit a beginning.

Ukraine says Starlink restrictions disrupted military operations as Trump pressures Kyiv for concessions. We don't know why SpaceX acted. But can countries afford essential infrastructure in private hands when that exposes them to political coercion?

Does Trump genuinely not understand that the specialization required in today’s world means one person cannot deeply understand everything? Is this why he’s firing all the experts and replacing them with unqualified charlatans? So he can feel adequate?

We can’t predict whose gifts tomorrow will need. Cooperation lets us specialize and build on one another’s work; fair, enforceable laws make that cooperation safer. International justice must evolve to earn trust. Less energy defending against aggression; more reaching for the stars.

Because if we don’t stop Putin and the other would be hemispheric dictators now … we’ll be next.

Imagine electing a leader who rejects science because it’s too hard for him to understand … limiting a once great nation to only what he can manage.

Every year we make a Thanksgiving pie pilgrimage to the legendary Toronto institution Wanda’s Pie in the Sky. My daughter and I walk all the way downtown from the west end then buy an unreasonable amount of pie. There’s no right way to handle a holiday but I do highly recommend this idea.

If you've been personally victimized by someone who thinks a bath towel doesn't need to be cleaned, you may be entitled to compensation. We asked the comedian Taylor Tomlinson to review dating dealbreakers, and she had a lot to say. nyti.ms/4i8BKKm

America exports 45-50 million barrels of diesel per month. So Trump's committing to buy diesel from Putin is him forcing Ameicans to support Putin's illegal war with Ukraine. It's just that simple.

Freeland makes a compelling case for democracies to unite against economic coercion. Why dismiss Carney's closely aligned efforts as a "milquetoast, middle-power nirvana"? Canada needs her ideas and experience, not needless rivalry. Cooperation must shape how we pursue it, too.

Newt may not have started the decline of the Republican Party, but his “destroy the enemy” teachings, still at the heart of the party, are a clear and potent signal of how lost the party is. Today, Trump “talks Newt” all the time, the same language and goals. He’s listened to the tapes.

America’s former allies mist limit American investment in their businesses. Trump has begun weaponizing them. Buy a business, extract the revenue, profit, people, and property. Discard the debt and move on. That’s the Trump way.

Listened to a short discussion about the Opera community trying to make Opera more approachable. Singing in public libraries. Opera mixed with pro wrestling. Sounds fun to me, and I attend Canadian Opera Company performances!

Got to admit I'm shocked, saddened, and frankly scared by the uptake of Muse, Meta's new offering. This is a company that has knowingly killed our kids for profit, demonstrating they are amoral and prepared to break any law. And you're giving them your data? Have fun with that.

There is no backlog for surgeries in Ontario hospitals, and never has been. The Ford government is lying. Hospital teams say nothing; if they speak out there will be reprisals hurting patients. OR’s sit idle and Ford pumps our healthcare dollars into his supporters accounts. That’s the Ford way!

Trump and his clan are moving biliions out of America and into their private accounts. How long they have till they're brought to jusice ... we'll have to wait an see.

I we're going to legislate to block MAID for those suffering when we deem relief is possible, then we are obliged to also legislate to make that relief available to all who need it.

Today, when you see a politician spending time limiting people’s washroom choices … they don’t deserve your vote, your respect, or your trust.

Really isn't a corner of the earth where we're not destroying the planet but instead of doing anything about it were debating about which bathrooms people can use

Some candidates tell each group they meet they are the most special. Other tell one group it’s only them. Both imply everyone else is “other”, not as special. Deliberately splitting people up, making them angry and distrustful of others isn’t leadership, it’s inciting a mob for personal gain.

The trick with the emerging AI is, as has always been the case, learning to do more with the help, not less with the help. There's enormous opportunity ... and those who master working in partnership with AI will be the winners.

One of the lessons we're learning thanks to Trump and his fiendish friends is how essential teaching critical thinking is. We need future generations of kids savy and tough to see through the dealuge of emotional disinformation and insist on the truth.

I don't know about you, but I'm tired of provincial politicians threatening Canada for personal gain. We all have things we like about our country and things we don't. Work within the system to improve it, or leave!

If the wealthy don't want to "pay to stay", maybe we should all be happy to see them leave. At this point, they seem to be taking rather than contributing.
