"sweet, is ur game on sale" No! Because it's free. You should spend your money on other ace devs in the event, but by all means, play our game too! "giving away games isnt smart" I can be ace and bad at capitalism. Two things can be true at the same time

As an ace/aro game dev who has played this game in beta: thumbs up emoji. Three thumbs up emoji. If you're curious about asexuality or questioning your own, this is ideal.

Hey, everybody! It's Steam NextFest time! What better way to celebrate than to... play other people's demos, because we're not participating! Seriously, spend your time enjoying those games, support any AI-free indies you spot, report back with cool recommends, and return Dec 7 for OUR next game.

VN readers and/or content creators! Do you like to play visual novels in tandem with someone else? We're working on a possible two-player game and have questions. Do you prefer short and snappy stories or something more lengthy and in-depth? Deeply emotional or lighter to reduce awkwardness?

Did You Know? All our FREE games have an optional donation DLC, which adds a gold sticker to the title screen. People see that sticker and know you make good decisions. They trust you. They would die and/or kill for you. Such purpose you could put them towards! Such terrible, unassailable purpose!

Even if Disney backed up a dump truck of money onto our lawn, we wouldn't use generative AI to make our games. Also we'd tell them to get off our lawn. And probably ask them to pay for the damages because that can't be good for the grass Could a gardener please chime in we need to get this right

Happy to say that our next game is now complete! All assets, all code, all writing. "so why not release it now?" my dude have you seen the release schedule everybody is dodging GTA6 and we are drowning in great games, I'm sticking to December 7 and crossing my fingers

"hey, how come you keep pushing games from 2023 and earlier whenever the sale events roll around, haven't you done anything else?" Yeah, we've made a ton of games. But the rest are free. Full quality, full releases, no money. Sales of the earlier games plus Patreon help support that.

Honestly, free game releases are surprisingly unpopular! There's an assumption that zero dollars means zero quality, or some sort of grift. Can't submit to promotional events or get spotlights. You just sit there and hope that somebody comes along. So, word of mouth helps us a lot.๏ฟผ

You've got less than a day to get Penny Larceny, a story of crime and cats, for five dollars! And then it's going away FOREVER. store.steampowered.com/app/2227030/... Well no, Steam keeps doing sales, but could you imagine what would happen? Would society unravel? Would the living envy the dead?

store.steampowered.comSave 60% on Penny Larceny: Gig Economy Supervillain on SteamA comic book adventure of freelance supervillainy, petting cats, and/or destroying capitalism in which your choices determine success in a series of daring heists and capers.

Rox-a-Lot's aesthetic is ASCII / ANSI graphics, which used 16 colors and the limited font of PCs to assemble an image from letters, numbers, and symbols. Dwarf Fortress, ZZT, and the original Rogue used this method to draw maps and represent creatures! And dial-up BBSes used it to make ANSI art.

Roxy's voiced by @forneiavtuber.bsky.social, a long-time collaborator with Fiction Factory Games. You may have heard her as the answering machine in TSoC, or The Producer in Laugh Track. She also helped develop Sir Rox-a-Lot's backstory and presentation, and streams here: joystick.tv/t/u/Forneia?...

Inque's retro PC aesthetic is the Hercules monochrome graphics adapter. (Even black and white needed an expensive video card in the early 80s.) Monitors were green or amber, typically, and rarely used for anything other than VisiCalc. Gaming was coming up, but pie charts mattered more.

Zephyr's retro PC aesthetic is the generally reviled yet delightful CGA 4-color from the early 80s, before PCs were taken seriously as gaming machines. Eye-searingly bright colors like red, green, and yellow! Or more commonly, purple and cyan... meaning IBM was unknowingly a champion of trans pride.

It's lunchtime! Make yourself a sandwich with any three of the following ingredients: Bread, cheese, madness, learning, hope, visions, empire, sorrow, suffering, challenge, mourning, timelines, and meat. What'll it be?

Arcade Spirits and The New Challengers are both on sale on Steam for TWO FREAKING DOLLARS each?! You could buy one large bag of Chex Mix or two amazing video games that'll give you hours of fun! Look, I like Chex Mix, but the decision here is obvious. store.steampowered.com/app/910630/A...

Omegus's retro PC aesthetic is EGA 16-color, thriving from the late 80s to early 90s, particularly in Sierra On-Line's point-and-click adventure games. They rely on clever dithering and color matching to create the illusion of far more color and shade... although skin tones can look sunburnt.

Your voice actor for the zealous and overly dramatic space science overlord is @urbanbohemian.com , streamer and all around terrific guy. His powerful tones bring gravitas to what is otherwise a very silly character who is NOT at all a parody of Warhammer 40k, why would you think that, ha ha ha.

I adore the people out there who print discs for their PC games, especially the ones who put art on the disc and even make custom cases - I've even seen a few people make manuals! Beyond the advantages of backing up these games, it's such a beautiful tribute to the work put in.

Fiction Factory Games@fictionfactorygames.com

Indies rarely have the resources to produce physical copies, and the PC-only indies like us are facing a collapsed physical market. Our olive branch is being DRM-free. We can't sell you a disk, but you can make your own freely. Back it up. Trade it. Loan it. Play it long after we are gone.

You can see the style in most late 90s educational games, with delightfully cartoony pixel art in games like Sierra's the Island of Doctor Brain. FMV characters were common once CDs became normal, such as in MYST. We did the grainy compression by actually saving it as a GIF, which is 256 colors!

While we're in the lead up to our next game, did you know that we've actually released two completely free games already? And that there's one story thread connecting all of them including our premium games, Penny Larceny and Arcade Spirits? It's true! Find out more: www.fictionfactorygames.com
