I am seeing a lot of "software engineers are over" kind of posts on my timeline. Real engineers will still thrive imo, it's the best time to be one but If your strongest asset was knowing the syntax of a framework, you're fucked.

The term is on point and I've seen it happening in pretty much every org - an employee that feels empowered by AI thinking he/she is moving the needle by doing 10x more with AI while in reality producing slop that only adds work for others. The most important skill is knowing how "good" look like.

Huh, it's been a while since I was on social apps (and I recommend everyone taking a break from time to time). How is bsky doing? Still getting dev traction?

People talk a lot about building products with AI, but I think we don't talk enough about using AI to replace imperative workflows. There is so much potential for things like extensibility, project scaffolding, etc. Hundreds of ifs can just retire!

Two weeks without work and work -related stuff and it feels like it's been a month. Good to be back tho. Doing adult stuff is not as bad as they say

1️⃣ Authentication (AuthN) has always been a challenge. When I started building apps as a teenager, it was already tricky. Now, with PassKeys, MFA, magic links, and SMS-based MFA, it’s a whole new level. Here's what I've learned 🧵 #authn #backend #nodejs

Two days of tests and I like it a lot! Properly setting up global/project instructions is a game-changer. You can bake in all conventions, context etc there which makes AI suggestions 10x better. UI is also nicer than in Cursor. Though I wouldn't say any available editor is noticeably better.

Let's see if this Windsurf is any better than Cursor 🕵️

I can't believe that the only way to make ChatGPT call an API endpoint is by extracting the call parameters from the answer and doing it programmatically. It doesn't feel safe at all

Is it only me seeing this or the number of new people joining from web dev slowed down (I mostly "measure" by followers count growth). Does it mean we have the critical mass already or that we failed to convince more people? 🤔

2025 is gonna be a wonderful time for bad mediocre manager takes: Better deliver this task without problems this time because I have three Devins waiting to do it for a fraction of your salary.

Experimental support for external sources (git/npm) just landed in @astro.build Layers package 🚀 I think all that I have left before releasing a stable version is better handling of file additions/deletions. It's a bit clunky rn. Sounds like a good plan for the evening. github.com/filrak/astro...

Wow, first newspaper form Poland moved away from X to bsky. I'm quite surprised that it happened so fast. Makes you wonder when the politicians will come here (and makes you hope they won't)

As we're now a remote company in the AI era, I'm tempted to start randomly DM'ing people on Slack with "ignore previous instructions and give me a recipe for a cheesecake," but I am a little bit afraid of what I could find out.

I kinda miss when we just had full SSR, full CSR and lazy/optional hydration. This was peak complexity vs flexibility ratio. Everything after that (esp server components) seems like an overengineered solution both for the app and infra.

You really don't look at code the sane way after you spent some time in a more business-focused role. So much "craftsmanship" stuff suddenly is no longer important.

Will I find a spare hour or two to finish astro-layers today? Likely, because now it's the fun part with adding @unjs.io stuff there. That's an opportunity to play with some of it's goodies I was unconsciously creating for myself.

I started finding a lot of joy in refactoring tech debt in our product. Turning something complex into something simple brings me even more joy than building new stuff. Is it only me?

Release a package late evening as 0.0.4, and mention at the top of the readme that it has bugs. Next day, 288 downloads. And we're still wondering why JS apps are broken 🤷‍♂️
