Spot on by Bill Gates. I knew he thought this but am glad he finally said it publicly. He has put up with such shitty misinformation from Musk over vaccines too.

Your daily reminder that it is our judicial system that decides if someone is a criminal, not the criminal President or his minions in the executive branch.

Oath: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully…preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." 1/20/2025 Question: “Don’t you need to uphold the Constitution of the United States?” Welker Answer: “I don’t know.” Trump 5/4/2025 Solution: Impeachment

Is there anyone on Earth who thinks putting out this message on Canadian Election Day is even remotely a good idea? I mean, besides the dotard who wrote it. “Vote for the guy who will give your country to me!!” He really believes people believe/believe in him. Does he actually believe he’s winning?

This devastating Substack post by Georgetown Law Professor @stevevladeck.bsky.social ought to cause Samuel Alito discomfort whenever he sees the word “Justice” in front of his name. He doesn’t deserve what that honorific implies.

If the Biden administration was so wasteful, and this one is so parsimonious, why did spending go up 8% despite all the DOGE cutting? Follow the money, please, somebody, follow the money.

Brendan Duke@brendanvduke.bsky.social

CBO finds that DOGE failed to achieve measurable savings in March. At first glance, spending fell $38B (7%) compared to last year. But March began on a Saturday so payments that normally go out in March went out in Feb After adjusting, spending *rose* $45B (8%) compared to March 24.

Oh, it is over. RIP, rule of law. The Supreme Court’s ruling is fascistic and authoritarian and now there is nothing stopping “them“ from removing any one of us if we dare say anything “they“ don’t like. This is how the freedom of speech dies and many other freedoms that are about to die as well

NPR@npr.org

A federal judge has ordered the Trump White House to let Associated Press journalists return to the Oval Office and other spaces to cover news events, ruling it was unlawful to block the news service in a dispute over its choice of words.

Think for one second why Finland decided to join NATO after this many years at this moment in history. God, we have become so stupid and arrogant so quickly.

Sisuthefin@sisuthefin.bsky.social

Finland knows what Russia is all about. We should take lessons from them. Siding with Putin will lead to more death and destruction. Why the fuck is this administration so fucking stupid.

Not a mandate. A rapist without a mandate. And shame on the 3633% who sat on their asses and let this happen. I’m almost more pissed off at them. Did they not have a mother or sister? No gay friends? No immigrant friends? Don’t each vegetables? Nah, they have all of those things, but don’t care.

We are sucking so bad right now. Are we great again, yet? Why does making America great again involve making America into total ass cheese in the eyes of the world? I used to enjoy the respect other had for us. Now, if someone respects us, I assume they’re a Nazi.

Republicans Against Trumpism@rpsagainsttrump.bsky.social

WOW. After yesterday’s Oval Office ambush of President Zelensky, Haltbakk Bunkers, one of Norway’s leading marine fuel providers, announced that it will no longer refuel U.S. Navy vessels, urging other European firms to follow suit. The United States is weaker and more isolated than ever.

Hyperbole. One of the most difficult aspects of engaging in any political discussion is arguing in the face of hyperbole promulgated by the liar, fabulist and demagogue Trump/Musk/Vance. Words have consequences, and those consequences have consequences as we are seeing. The threat of urban elites

…in CA and New York City is so much greater if 62% of America lives there instead of the 15% that ACTUALLY do. Or exaggerating the 1% of transgender folk 2100%? How do we convince people that meeting the safety and health needs of less than 1% of American citizens poses no threat? End hyperbole.

UKRAINE DID NOT START A WAR!! A country that sends its tanks and troops across an international border, without permission, invading a sovereign nation, commits an act of what? Anyone? Anyone? Ant act of… rhymes with four… Anyone? Buehler? Buehler?

Stupidity is not the same as accident. This was caused by brazen stupidity.

Joyce White Vance@joycewhitevance.bsky.social

This story can't be repeated enough. The GOP is lined up behind the guy who is so incompetent that his quasi-gov't agency did this. They're confirming his highly questionable nominees & hurting the American people. And "accidentally"? It was stupidity, not accident. www.nbcnews.com/politics/dog...

It might be important to understand that the rule of law does not preclude the breaking of unjust laws. The rule of law does not mean adherence to ALL law, but adherence to just laws that apply to all people. If it doesn’t pass this sniff test, it is morally right (and necessary) to flush it.

This seems bad. The highly pathogenic avian influenza virus, which has caused the death of hundreds of millions of birds in the last five years around the world, is spreading across Antarctica, a pristine paradise for wildlife. english.elpais.com/science-tech...

Hmmm…are we strong arming Panama to become the dumping ground for people we think might be here illegally and who live too far away for us to repatriate, or did Panama realize it might be good to have a couple ten thousand “prisoners” who were ejected from the US to defend Panama when we attack it?

Aman Batheja@amanbatheja.bsky.social

CBS News: The US is now sending planes to Panama to deport adults and families with children from Afghanistan, China, India, Iran. Uzbekistan, and Cameroon

There is no better example of the craven behavior of this Republican Senate. Unqualified and dangerous liar and grifter. The most elite of the elite-shitheads. Children will die because of this. Yours and theirs. A smaller population will by definition require a smaller government. Their plan?
