After 10+ years of open-source and community contributions, seeing my name on a star on the floor, in the heart of tech, at one of the best developer conferences, feels like being a Hollywood star 🥹🤩 I love @github.com

didn't want the other passengers to know it was my first time, so i played it cool and didn't take a photo. but in business the seats go fully flat into an actual bed. they give you a blanket, a pillow, everything. no sleeping crooked, no stiff neck, no headache 🥹

@oozn.bsky.social posted something the other day like flights and airport fatigue are really about being poor. turns out it's true. being poor makes everything torture. rich life is easy. even jetlag is hard for the rich. thanks to uncle bill gates, i'm finally seeing civilization.

"I'll tell you the problem with the scientific power that you're using here: It didn't require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn't earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don't take any responsibility for it.

You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could, and before you even knew what you had..." - Dr. Ian Malcolm at Jurassic Park

i'm not against ai making software dev accessible to everyone. i actually love it. but there's an annoying side effect: people with zero idea what the sdlc is are now lecturing folks who've spent years doing this job. from a very high horse.

people who've been around these processes, even outside the coding side, are usually way more on point. but "i was a greengrocer yesterday, shipped a mobile app today, and i'm better than all of you" is a bit much 😂 (no shade to greengrocers, i couldn't run one either)

everyone should build stuff. it's amazing that it's spreading and people are shipping things that solve their own problems. some of it is genuinely great. but don't get ahead of yourself.

even today's agentic workflows evolved from 20-30 years of sdlc. "plan first, then build" wasn't discovered last year. prds weren't invented alongside you. using a process you learned yesterday to lecture people who've fought for it for 20 years looks pretty funny from the outside.

and the sdlc isn't just writing code. there's politics, crisis management, all the messy parts of the job nobody tells you about. ai doesn't give you those. (at least not yet)

devs who shipped software to millions, even billions of users without ai deserve some basic respect. if not for them, then at least for what they know. and when you look at the work of the people doing the lecturing, it's dunning-kruger at full volume.

sure, all of it can be learned, and ai can make that faster. but ai explaining the sdlc to you is not the same as actually doing it. turning it into practice and reflexes takes time, plus a bunch of social skills.

asked CİMER (turkey's gov complaint portal) about the weird customs rules for personal shipments. it went to the trade ministry, then the transport ministry, then right back to CİMER. full circle. still no answer.

before ai, building a product was the hardest part. if you could ship one, that was already a win. now everyone ships fast and there are tons of products and games out there. so what are the new skills that set you apart? 👀

everyone's building apps so fast now, and everyone asks me to try theirs 😞 i really want to, i just don't have that much time

ok i'm actually gonna start using this place for real now 🦋 everything i post on x will land here too, in english. say hi

Come with an idea. Leave with something live. The first Spacefast Build & Hack Night is Monday, October 26, in NYC. Turn that tool, game, dashboard, or experiment you’ve been sitting on into something shareable.

didn't know this was a very famous poem. came across it today. adding it next to the amado nervo poem that's been pinned on my profile for years. (it's actually by nadine stair, but it got famous after being wrongly attributed to jorge luis borges)

If I had my life to live over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall. I would go to more dances. I would ride more merry-go-rounds. I would pick more daisies.”

In fact, I’d try to have nothing else. Just moments, one after another, instead of living so many years ahead of each day.

I’ve been one of those persons who never goes anywhere without a thermometer, a hot water bottle, a raincoat and a parachute. If I had to do it again, I would travel lighter than I have.

I would eat more ice cream and less beans. I would perhaps have more actual troubles, but I’d have fewer imaginary ones.

You see, I’m one of those people who lived sensibly and sanely, hour after hour, day after day. Oh, I’ve had my moments, and if I had to do it over again, I’d have more of them.

“If I had my life to live over, I’d dare to make more mistakes next time. I’d relax, I would limber up. I would be sillier than I have been this trip. I would take fewer things seriously. I would take more chances. I would climb more mountains and swim more rivers.

codex with gpt-6 astra ultra burns tokens faster than claude code with opus 5.5 ultracode. idk what i'm doing wrong.
