The Empire State Building went pink at exactly 9:25pm for Dolly Parton. Because of course they made it 9 to 5. That’s how you honor an icon. 🩷

One of my fave things in York Minster: a medieval wren stalking a spider. It reminds me that history isn't only kings and battles. Someone, centuries ago, found joy in the same things we still notice today. It's a reminder of how much we have in common over our differences.

Goodness me I love this man

Today, I signed an Executive Order temporarily repealing bedtimes in the City of New York so that kids of all ages can watch our team in the NBA Finals. As Mayor, you’re forced to make many difficult decisions. This was not one of them. Go Knicks.

This is the country I want. This, not genocidal threats from a man who is palpably losing his mind in front of the whole world.

This is the face of a lunar scientist who has just been told that the #Artemis II crew saw SEVERAL impact flashes (the flashes when meteors hit the lunar surface) in real time 😃 🌓💥

Watched this and immediately said to my husband 'ah, how to hunt your neighbours'. Absolutely hideous idea

I tell you what, Ring figured out exactly how to weaponize white people’s empathy in service to a corporately controlled surveillance state. Tell them it will find your dog.

If you're a government who gets offended when you're compared to fascists and dictators, then arresting journalists for just doing their jobs seems like a step in the WRONG direction...

For anyone not paying attention, we are at the arresting journalists stage of fascism. Arresting journalists. When does it sink in?

Didn't expect to laugh out loud at a piece on people and shopping carts: behavioralscientist.org/why-dont-peo... "I spent dozens of weekend hours hunched over my computer pausing and replaying YouTube videos. People in my life called this “concerning” and a “waste of time.” I called it research."

behavioralscientist.orgImmigration: The Disconnect Between Perception and Policy - Behavioral ScientistTwo-thirds of Americans believe the country’s current immigration policy needs at least major revisions. What that reform should look like varies, but not as much one might think.

I do realise this isn't the world's most pressing issue, but why does Ed Sheeran think it's a good idea to write a song that contains the phrase "your eyes exploding"? I am finding this very disconcerting

This made me cry a little bit (in a good way).

Starmer to Zelenskyy: You are very very welcome here in Downing Street. As you heard from the cheers outside, you have full backing across the United Kingdom.

This piece resonates even more after seeing that disgraceful display in the Oval Office. Nothing describes Trump better than "changeable, highly emotional, susceptible to whatever he last heard and clearly instinctively pro-autocrat." Thank you Ian for giving me a little hope.

Only one thing really matters. American security guarantees for Ukraine. And on that, Starmer came back from Washington empty-handed. iandunt.substack.com/p/europe-can...

Tina Brown is never boring, but her latest is especially brilliant, particularly "In his seven decades of global media power, Murdoch has degraded journalism on three continents and given us a president who has made transactional cynicism the new normal". tinabrown.substack.com/p/melanias-m...

tinabrown.substack.comMelania's Message, Harry v. Murdoch, and Jamboree in IndiaWhen writer Brad Gooch called to ask me if I had any memories of working with the late French glamour photographer Patrick Demarchelier for a piece he's writing, I went truffle hunting through some of...

The Up Helly Aa 2025 procession taking in the Library as usual 🙂 Everyone’s now off to party all night. Except us, of course. We’re off to bed with a good book. #UpHellyAa #UHA2025
