It's the fact that we TOLD YOU nine years ago in a massive public outpouring, started setting up networks, organizations, projects, truth-tellings, ways to make things different and we were blocked, discounted, gaslit, told "whoa, you're not going to cancel me, are you??"

Theory-free inference is a bid to substitute one for the other: the beauty and terror of being able to manipulate the world without studying or understanding it is that it can be done with money alone. No experts needed.

In short, the power to thwart billionaires' desires. AI is the money-losingest enterprise the human race has ever embarked upon. More than a trillion dollars has been spent *this year* to make a mere $50b in revenue.

Straight from OpenAI's Brockman and Microsoft's Nadella - 'doom loop' for the entire web [as they vacuum up and substitute the work of journalism and threaten their economic foundations]. /2

For cynics, this is all a shuck, a scare-story to convince the rubes that their modestly useful utility software is really a nascent "superintelligence" and thus capable of replacing all their workers, which means they should fire all those workers and start sending their salaries to AI companies.

to be more specific I should say revenues collected by government, but the screenshot says it. Bottom line the public pays out and suffers more than it collects from this industry effectively debunking the claim we need fossil fuels to counter US trade aggression.

Yes, this is a plug. Last month, I started using "incogni" to wipe my data from online data brokers, since this is becoming a prevalent security issue. So far, I'm pretty impressed. If you want to try it, use this code and we both get a discount: incogni.cello.so/6kB4DRHAfU7

incogni.cello.soData Broker Removal Service | IncogniData brokers are collecting, aggregating and trading your personal data without you knowing anything about it. We make them remove it.

Bread is the oldest politics there is. From the Roman grain dole to the French Revolution: when the price of essentials spike, societies are ripped apart. The fight over affordability has always been the fight over how we organize our polity. 2/

Put another way, the entire adult userbase is going to have to upload their IDs to sketchy third-party companies and link their identities to their online activity to stop a few dozen kids from accessing a platform that is mainly left-leaning news and commentary. What problem is this solving?
