A skilled comedy writer or two would need to be in the mix, though. Maybe it’s written first as a really good comedy, then handed to a different writers room where all the comedic intent and jokes are siphoned out. An anti-punch-up. A Reverse-The-Production-Of-The-Emperor’s-New-Groove, if you will

“Don’t Look Up”, which I haven’t seen but have absorbed through internet osmosis, will probably be the first flick on people’s minds as a comparison, as would Idiocracy, for those who went to The Let’s Go Brandon School of Humor. No. This remake would need to be earnest and similar in scope.
