it’s always “discriminatory policy is a resignation-worthy offence!” for the left and “we may not agree with restricting certain groups’ access to healthcare, education, employment, etc. but we need to stick with [starmer/burnham]!” for the right god the performative outrage is so fucking tiring

this is your regular reminder that the labour party is mass murdering transgender ppl, systemically eradicating us, and this nhs 'guidance' is the latest part of that 'gender critical' is not feminism it is a neonazism movement that seeks to mass murder and erase transgender ppl from society

รℓσαɳε ℓყรɓεƭɦ@sloanelysbeth.northsky.social

peter doesn't care about the morality he just cares about what percentage of the population this will appeal too funny how he doesn't view labour's transphobic policies in terms of public appeal labour are mass murdering transgender ppl. the cass review has killed over 600 ppl in less than 2 years

friendly reminder that this government’s ‘independent’ terrorism advisor thinks trans women are russian propaganda ‘russian interference’ is just going to be used as an excuse to silence and delegitimise opinions that make the political establishment uncomfortable

Mark Chadbourn@chadbourn.bsky.social

Everybody knew Russia interfered in the Brexit referendum - the evidence was there - but people were too afraid of Farage’s mob to say it. So it’s good to see Burnham finally speaking the truth.

we know that russia pushes anti-trans rhetoric; burnham legitimises it by passing anti-trans legislation russia pushes anti-immigrant rhetoric; the government says the race rioters have ‘legitimate concerns’ that must be addressed so what kind of ‘propaganda’ will they actually be stopping?

nothing says “progressive” quite like a politician who sees woman only by their ability to bear children and polices access to public services based on whether or not you meet her western beauty standards

Saul Staniforth@saulstaniforth.bsky.social

Phillipson says the difference between Labour & the Greens is Lab deliver. And you know what policy she cites? Scrapping the two child benefit cap. Something they suspended seven Lab MPs for voting for, refused to do for almost 2yrs & had to be dragged kicking & screaming to do

the last hope the green party has is that the cool membership still outnumbers the sensible membership seeing key figures like berry, lucas, and ramsay publicly try and drag the party back to inefficacy is giving big starmerification vibes and we can’t let it happen again

it’s always “discriminatory policy is a resignation-worthy offence!” for the left and “we may not agree with restricting certain groups’ access to healthcare, education, employment, etc. but we need to stick with [starmer/burnham]!” for the right god the performative outrage is so fucking tiring

If the pro trans politicians in Labour would admit that Labour views and policies are the problem I would believe them more when they say they’re an ally. But they’re just blaming Reform saying they are dividing us while it’s currently Labour. Reform are bad but that does not mean Labour aren’t.

“independent journalists” writing the same copypasta article glazing the current government, while branding criticism of its cruelty against palestinians, trans people, migrants, disabled people as merely “spats” and “placard politics”

people are still trying to do the “burnham supports trans rights” bullshit from makerfield? using old quotes is pretty weak when: - his last quote was openly transphobic - the equality minister he appointed is publicly promoting bio-essentialism - he oversaw the guidance and section 28 passing

tony blair successfully rebranded thatcherism as 'centrism'. now if you speak to a 'centrist' they are ferociously right wing and bigoted but they think they're moderates. andy burnham is trying to rebrand thatcherism as progressivism. if we let him get away with that we are all truly fucked.

Owen Jones@owenjones.bsky.social

With Andy Burnham's speech, the left has unequivocally won the argument - on the rhetoric, at least. The substance is rather more complicated. But this government is more susceptible to popular pressure to go in a more progressive direction than Starmerism. Should embolden us!

“the fight back starts here” as though trans people weren’t actively fighting before and were just waiting for starmer’s knights in shining armour to suggest they shouldn’t put their boots on our neck

so what ive learnt from the "sensibles" today is that they would be perfectly fine with farage becoming prime minister so long as he started making nice speeches "i couldn't imagine farage making a speech like that!" its just vibes all the way down at this point.

these are cute but also they strike me as the politics equivalent of a chibi thanos they look sweet on first blush, but then you remember they’re responsible for multiple genocides and it becomes pretty sickening

nihoncones@coneshotline.bsky.social

i have been informed that this is NOT ai slop and is in fact drawn by someone from east and south east asians for labour so that’s something at least. and you know what let them cook. kind of a fan of the rayner one

speaking of not listening to the left; how is the labour women’s conference looking, lizzi?

Lizzi Collinge MP@lizzicollinge.bsky.social

Because unlike my ideal world of everyone being left-wing, many people are not. A decent centre right is a bulwark against the screaming horror of the rest of the right, particularly e.g. Reform and current Tories. They are needed to speak against the madness as some people won't listen to the left.

i hate this man more than i hated starmer it takes a special kind of evil to condone race riots, then whine about how you are the actually oppressed one because youre not allowed to get pissed at the sports ball we are a normal island

As a pragmatic centrist, I read the Niemöller poem differently. After each group mentioned I pencil in what percentage of the population they are, and if it’s a small number I cross off their names as disposable. Poetry is fine but math wins elections!!
