🎉In September, the FORSAID consortium gathered in Portugal for its first annual meeting! 📈Over three days, we discussed the projects' progress, identified next steps and participated in practical demonstrations and field activities. 👀Find out more: forsaid.eu/news/first-f... #Forests #Pests

📢 #Spotted at #COP17Armenia in Yerevan 🇦🇲: @pensoft.net has brought FORSAID’s materials to the EU #Science4Biodiversity Booth! 🌱 Swing by to find out how we’re developing new ways to detect and manage forest pests.

📢 #Spotted: FORSAID’s materials are on display in Lesbos, Greece 🇬🇷, at the 3rd Annual General Meeting of @pollinators-antenna.eu this week! 🙌 Thanks to our consortium partner @pensoft.net, attendees can discover our innovative approaches for the early detection and monitoring of forest pests.

📆 FORSAID consortium partner @epponews.bsky.social attended the 23rd IFQRG meeting in Prague. 🌿Since 2003, the organisation has provided scientific advice on forestry quarantine, which aims to prevent pest introduction and spread - an area closely linked to FORSAID’s work.

EPPO@epponews.bsky.social

Last week, Dmitrii Musolin, an EPPO Scientific Officer, took part in the 23rd meeting of the International Forestry Quarantine Research Group (www.ippc.int/en/partners/...).

🙌 FORSAID’s technologies met forest stakeholders, this time in Portugal! 🗓️ On 10 September in Coruche, 30 of them got a first-hand look at smart traps, AI tech and the Entomoscope device, sharing their impressions on all three. 🔗 Read more: forsaid.eu/news/forsaid...

📢 FORSAID is presented in @eufawready.eu’s campaign on synergies between Horizon Europe projects. 🌱 What connects our two projects is early detection of regulated pests, whether on farmland or in forests. ⬇️ Find out more below ⬇️

EUFAWREADY@eufawready.eu

🔎 Synergy spotlight: @forsaid.eu - building a tech-driven standard to manage #ForestPests and #pathogens via #RemoteSensing, automated ground detection, and #CitizenScience. 🤝 Like #EUFAWREADY, it's about #EarlyDetection and fast action, but in another landscape. 🔗 forsaid.eu #EUFAWREADYSynergies

🌿 How can plant health be ensured across both forests and agricultural crops? 🙌 FORSAID and its sister Horizon EU projects @stella-horizon-eu.bsky.social & CERBERUS address this in a joint factsheet, presenting their complementary approaches to the early detection and monitoring of pests.

🙌 Our second annual meeting brought all 17 FORSAID partners together online. Alongside other presentations, four sessions brought our work packages together, each centred on one of our target species. 🔗 Full recap: forsaid.eu/news/second-...

📝 Every month, the Reporting Service from our consortium partner @epponews.bsky.social covers pest outbreaks, newly identified host plants and other developments relevant to the EPPO region. 👇 September's edition is linked in the post below.

🪲 Of 14 platforms asked for research access to track the EU’s 88 listed invasive species, only 6 provided usable data. 💡 That gap matters for our work on forest pest detection, where every early record counts. 👇 Check out the latest policy brief by @onestop-project.eu to find out more!

OneSTOP@onestop-project.eu

🔎Our latest policy brief explores why researchers' access to social media, search engine, and e-commerce data is collapsing at the exact moment invasion science needs it most 📑Read the policy brief: zenodo.org/records/2200... 🔗 Learn more: onestop-project.eu/news/onestop...

📡 Detection models are only as reliable as the field data used to validate them. 🌱 Nice work by our sister project @stella-horizon-eu.bsky.social, inspecting plane trees at high risk of Ceratocystis platani, which is also one of FORSAID's target species.

STELLA@stella-horizon-eu.bsky.social

🌿 Field validation in Evia, Greece. On 16-17 September, AUA & BOKU joined forces at the STELLA forest pilot to collect ground-truth data for model validation and inspect plane trees in areas at high risk for Ceratocystis platani. 🛰️ #PlantHealth #HorizonEU #STELLAProject #ForestHealth

💡Tools for early detection of forest pests only make a difference if forest managers and plant health authorities can put them to use. 🌱 How research makes the jump into practice and policy is the focus of the webinar by @purpest-eu.bsky.social on 30 Sept. ⬇️ Register by 29 Sept ⬇️
