My second book, The Lady and the Crow, is out now. It's available on Kindle and KU, and Amazon at: www.amazon.com/dp/B0HC8SMFQ8 And I also dropped the Ebook price for the first one, Shadow of the Lady, to 0.99 in case anyone is interested but haven't checked it out yet. #booksky

Oof, I really need to post more often. I finished the draft of my second book at the beginning of July, and am almost done with edits. It will be out on the 31st. Can't wait to start on the next one. #booksky

I am currently about 280 pages into book two in my series. My goal is to break 300 by Sunday. Pretty sure I'll write more than that. This one is going by very quickly - I'll have plenty time to several runs of edits and limit the number of post-publication typos I am sure I will find. #booksky

Been making good progress on the second book in my series. Probably the biggest worry was figuring out the cover, but today I managed to put something together that I am pretty happy with. Just need to flesh it out some... and finish writing. #booksky

Chapter 6 of book 2 is written, so it's around a third of the way done. I'm trying to limit myself to no more than 3 months between releases, was going to *start* this one tomorrow. That puts me, including the cover and editing, about 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule. #booksky #fantasybooks #writing

Well, book 1 has been out for a week, and I'm planning to have the next in the series ready by the end of August. I started on it before finishing the first one, but I've doubled what I wrote before, and am over 25% now. It's going to be ready early, I think. #booksky #fantasybooks #writing

#booksky Kinda wondering now that my book is done - how many folks design their own covers? I'm not, by any stretch of the imagination, an artist, so mine was... stressful to figure out on my own - although I feel like I can make something that doesn't suck now.

My wife was trying to think of a word for a post event gathering, and since a reception is more of an opening thing, the first word that jumped into her head was... deception. So, that's a thing now.

Good friends. Roommates, even. #caturday

My daughter has been singing "Dwink fwom da Bwita..." for days now, and part if me is sick of hearing it while the other part takes a perverse joy in seeing the defeated look on my son's face whenever she starts up again. Also, she got my wife singing it too.

That clown is out of his depth in any capacity, but that should have been patently obvious before you voted for him the first time. You knew. You just didn't care. www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...

The easiest way to tell if someone knows what they are doing is wrong is when they lack the courage to admit they are doing it.

Happy #Caturday!

I wonder how often politicians don't change a stance because they don't want to be seen as flip-flopping on an issue. I imagine it is more common after they have already flipped once. How much more might we respect one who, following public outcry, says instead, "I hear you, and respect your will"?

We will never turn this country around until we realize that we should always choose the lesser of two evils when they are the only two choices. Change is a process, accomplished one step at a time, and this is how we gradually move the bar further from choices which are evil in the first place.

In my next life, I hope it is legal to hunt evil with a sword.

Are people given no civil rights under any obligation to be particularly civil?

NATO countries - you know, you could just act as if the U.S. isn't a part of the treaty and keep doing the right thing while we fail to do so. 45 abdicated any sense or measure of leadership anyway, so if he complains, just tell him "hush, the adults are talking" and continue moving forward.

To the republicans who voted for censure, your hypocrisy is showing - again. To those Democrats who voted for it as well, shame on you. To those who stood in solidarity, this is what leadership looks like. And to @algreen.house.gov - I hope you wear it like a badge of honor; we are proud of you.

Hey 45 - I realize it must suck to sit across from one of the most respected leaders in the world and realize he is simply and effortlessly better than you in every way, but does that really justify your childish temper tantrum?

I did my 20. I thought about getting out during his last run; it's hard to spend 4 years being ashamed of your service. These days I find myself feeling ashamed of my nation. Voter suppression may have had some impact, but in the end, we did this to ourselves.

President Zelensky: I know you have too much class to do so, but I really wish you had stood up in the middle of that meeting, said you didn't come to negotiate with toddlers throwing tantrums, and just walked out.

Never thought I'd see the first and second worst presidents in my lifetime. Or that they'd be the same person.

What surprises me most is that they seem to believe there is a future where they get what they want. There isn't. Either they lose, or everyone does.

Trump wanting to take over Canada sounds like the prelude to Fallout, but like ~50 years early.

The thing to remember about the conservative push to end DEI is that doing so will cause all the things they claim to be trying to solve by ending it - and they know it. They aren't interested in a level playing field.

"Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind." One of my favorite quotes, but it's so much harder to live by these days. I find I more and more lack the will to be kind to those who see empathy as weakness.
