3rd pt, just for this very reason, embassies are usually in well sequestered / cloistered places and such protests would receive little foot or vehicle traffic exposure and zero media exposure. I know this from direct personal experience.

Counterpoint: in the US, the student protests were not protests for their own sake. Modelled after the 1980's student protests against SA Apartheid, their goal was to directly effect Israel's financial well-being. To bring about a complete divestiture of those universities in Israeli businesses.

In the 80's, this did prove effective in helping force SA's shift in policy. 2nd pt, the raw, gruesome coverage of the Vietnam conflict caused a societal loss of support. The need for the on-the-ground reality to penetrate the media, far outweighs signage and shouting @ embassies, IMO.
