Seth, thanks for posting this. The virtues of our countries are not so different at all, and often we admire the same noble leadership and bold action. But Canadians will not kneel before a bully blowhard like DJT. Ever. And one day your countrymen and women may come to thank us for not doing so.

This is a speech worth watching, and is probably infinitely kinder than Trump deserves. I am ashamed at how he is treating Canada.

Were MAGA not a death cult, it would be fine for some members to exhaustively review the Rittenhouse or Penny cases and say, “I can understand a juror thinking that, on this charge, the prosecution did not meet its incredibly high burden.” That’s not what’s happened. These men are treated as gods.

Which party celebrates killers again? This isn't the first time, either. People mention Rittenhouse, but don’t forget Eddie Gallagher. I want the killer of Brian Thompson arrested, prosecuted, convicted and incarcerated per existing criminal statutes. If it turns out to be Luigi Mangione, then him. I believe in rule of law—full stop. I don’t believe in Hell. But if there were one, insurance executives would presumably burn there.

Is it weird to anyone else that this headline notes that the killer was a veteran... while failing to mention that the man he killed was too? Is there some reason Garrett Foster can’t have his service acknowledged in the same way the man who killed him did? @texastribune.org

Canada has been a great friend and neighbor to America. If you ask me, this would have been a much better choice for Time’s Person of the Year.
