Finally found the 1st Downbeat with a blindfold test: March 23, 1951, with Terry Gibbs. Initially appearing only every other issue. It says Leonard Feather had previously done this for Metronome. I imagine this information is probably in wikipedia.

🇺🇸 Raccoon ransacks liquor store, passes out drunk in toilet A raccoon broke into a liquor store in the US state of Virginia, leaving a trail of broken glass and ending in a drunken heap on the floor.

I just put a new basket on the back of my bike. 4 bolts with nuts and washers. Held the bolts with my left hand and turned the nuts with my right one. Moaned the whole time and had to stop and le down half way through because of left shoulder pain.

Lying down made me feel better, rather than worse. None of which is how it's supposed to work according to the "indications." I apologize profusely for my symptoms not following the fucking rules.

I think that whenever I feel like I've read enough and am finally ready to write my rant, I might write a long version first then go back and cut it down to a short version. I might also try running it past some shoulder surgery forum commenters before inflicting it on a doctor.

Ambivalent about mentioning the 2 years I'd spent going from doctor to doctor for pain, snapping etc. prior to my accident 30 years ago. Maybe best to keep that secret.

I dreamed I was staying in a 115-story Hieronymus Bosch hotel but I forgot my room number and the elevator operator asked me my mother's maiden name but I remembered it wrong and then I woke up.

I dreamed I was in a white goose costume and there was another guy in a blue goose costume and I spat in his face and there was a closeup of his blue goose mask with spit on it and anger in his eyes and then we got in a fight and then I woke up.

People who don't know me won't know that my stage 4 chondral damage was discovered only after 8 years of bullshit following the surgery for the complete pectoral tear that had gone unnoticed by doctor after doctor after doctor for the previous 20 years. So now you know.

Doctors' attitudes always seem to be that I'm miraculously asymptomatic and that my "complaints" are either an unfathomable mystery or something trivial and easily explained by the first thing that pops into their heads.

Getting harder and harder to find a skilled orthopedic surgeon with no associations with any of the other skilled orthopedic surgeons who've already deliberately fucked me over.

Anyways I've been reading through some shoulder surgery textbooks that I downloaded from Anna's Archive lately. Very slowly, on account of reading a lot makes my shoulder hurt.

The only reason I found out that the cartilage in my shoulder is pretty much all gone is because I got an MRI of the whole shoulder just to see what was there rather than a focused one based on the standard clinical examination tests that are slightly more scientific than water dowsing.

Getting back to my "sports medicine" peeve, I'm sure that in some sense working for a pro sports team is evidence of good skills just because those teams have money to burn and you get what you pay for...

but on the other hand patching up acute injuries on guys in way-better-than-normal shape has got to be the least challenging work for an orthopedic surgeon to do, which may help explain why these guys are always so clueless about anything chronic.

I need to learn to switch on my voice recorder app or whatever quickly so I might catch the words whenever I spontaneously break into a rant at an imaginary orthopedic surgeon and thereupon may type them up at my leisure. Or alternatively get an app that will do it for me I guess.

It's unfortunate that there's this massive "sports medicine" industry that normal people with chronic injuries have to deal with. I mean if every jock on the planet suddenly became unable to play their stupid games tomorrow that would be a good thing in my mind.
