Every time I wonder why I am still playing Sea of Thieves, it shows me why. Started last week's session slow - taking my daughter fishing. Flamemaw is standing directly between us and our destination. Fresh ship, no loot, flying the HC flag - nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Flush with Cannoneer and supply voyages from the new plunder pass system, we burned a couple of them to make sure we had the supplies for it, then took her on. That one went much better and we had plenty to turn in under a tier 5 flag at that point. All and all, a good day.

Game really does come alive when you got somebody with you and you click together. I'm really starting to understand that now. And I hope this short and humble story can inspire others to try and give up the solo life and find somebody to sail with.

Neither of us have fought Flamemaw before other than my one failed solo attempt. It was a hard fight. There was lots of fire involved, nervous laughter, and we nearly used up every single cannonball we had. But together we got our first Ancient Meg kill and learned quite a bit from it.

That kill alone gave us 4 levels on the HC flag. So we filled it up easily and found the Barnacled Dread was now on the map. I hate that beast as it tends to make the fun police spawn on nearby islands. And confident after our previous triumph, we decided to do the server a favor and take her on.

My Daughter- "Hey, they're following us" Me - "Of course they are, we just stole their shit." Them chasing us meant more than the open reaper's chest we stole to keep them from griefing the outpost - it tells me they actually cared and we ruined their prank. 😜

I can't believe No Man's Sky is 10 years old and they are STILL putting out free updates. I'd say they've more than redeemed themselves at this point.

Regular game group dropped Diablo IV freeing up enough space for me to get back on the seas. Good to be back on the deck of the Vixen's Wager again with my little girl at my side. 💕

4 TB HD (which contained SoT) bricked itself yesterday, so I was down to just my 1 TB SSD. Only thing I have to replace that drive that still works is an old 250 GB SATA SSD. After reinstalling what I must have, no room for SoT - and no replacement soon because inflation. Fuck this timeline.

DRG: Rogue Core has potential, the part I like most is their new Promotion system they've renamed "Ascension" Previous game, these only occurred in single player - but this game, you can Ascend with friends witnessing. First one I attended made me tear up. It goes HARD

I usually give SoT a break during the summer as the seas generally get hotter than I like with School Summer Break active. So Daughter and I have been jumping around other games for a bit. I have to admit though, I'm kind of missing it already.

Last ship standing indeed is fun . Lasted until the final circle shrinking with 5 ships left - and the chaos was indeed glorious. But the sensory overload is real, and we needed a break after that long round were we but we will def try again another time!

My sloop was just me for so many hours. But now, it's full of joy and laughter as a father and daughter spend time together. She keeps me sailing in the right direction, we laugh in the face of misfortune and let the game sweep us up emotionally with it's presentation.

So I had my daughter roll up her first voyage of luck during our Wednesday sail and uh, we'll just say she had a really good draw. 😆 Few tier V flags in it too. Can't help but notice this looks very similar to the loot that we snagged from a Brig that JR blew up with reaper's rowboat. 🤔

So I dove head-first into the sweat soaked seas of Sloop Hourglass and lost every single fight. But.... at least I didn't give up after the first one. Lasted almost an hour of straight losses before my little girl and I gave up for the night. Small victory, but I'll take it.

Started my day off with some randoms in Helldivers 2, then ended up in a cheater lobby that filled up my resources so now I have to fill out a support ticket to get myself reset. I guess I'm not doing random lobbies in that game anymore...

Helluva sail tonight, and I have @presjr88.bsky.social to thank for it. We took my daughter into the High Seas on the deck of Lilith's Fury, my Brig that is pledged to "For All Eternity". And together, we finally let her sink her fangs into other ships while her captain learned to fight.

A few Hourglass fights were done - but I feel like we gave out as much as we took. I then discovered by brig looks badass with the Reaper's Flames active on it. Is it me, or does the green part look like a mouth and the red bit of flame above look like eyes?

Found out today that a former manager that I was still in contact with finally succumbed to his fight with Cancer. It been... years long. I genuinely liked the guy, even if we weren't close. But all I feel about it just angry. Why did it take such a good man from us, but tyrants are still living?

Just rowed from Molten Sands all the way to Morrows peak to sell loot and a Molten Sands key. We'll just say a random Skelly Galleon, a firebomb, and a black powder barrel were involved and leave it at that. Goddammit... the one time I try the content... hahaha
