I’m devastated to hear about the senseless mass shooting at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend, Oregon. Our students deserve to feel safe in their classrooms — and we cannot afford to wait any longer to make that a reality. We need to end gun violence and pass meaningful legislation now.

This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, let’s recognize and celebrate the many cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous peoples. Their history is an essential part of our nation’s story. Let’s honor their resilience and the many ways Indigenous communities continue to shape our country and future.

I have reached out to ICE several times to reconcile their conflicting responses on whether or not they were holding an ICE protestor database. Now, records obtained by USA TODAY tell a very different story. We need answers and accountability.

The nation’s largest food distributor, Sysco, is buying Restaurant Depot—a deal that could drive up costs for restaurant owners and, ultimately, consumers. I’m calling on the FTC and DOJ to put a pause on this merger and protect independent restaurant owners and the communities they serve.

Many thanks to all the Winter Park residents who joined Mayor DeCiccio and me for our town hall last week to discuss amendment 3, transportation, & more! Showing up and hearing directly from you helps me bring your priorities back to Congress & fight for the issues that matter most to our community.

I'm honored to be named on the @time.com 100 Next 2026 List. This is a reminder of what we can accomplish when we organize and refuse to give up. From safer communities and affordable housing to lowering costs, the work continues — and I’ll never stop fighting for Central Florida!

Domestic violence impacts millions of Americans each year. It is never too late to ask for help. If you or a loved one is a victim of domestic violence, call the 24-hour National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE.

Three years ago today, we worked with President Biden to create the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. President Trump shut it down on his first day back in office. But we’ve never stopped fighting and we won’t stop until we end gun violence & bring this office back for good.

New whistleblower reports highlight horrific conditions at ICE facilities right here in Florida — in Miramar and Orlando — including black mold, overcrowding, and detainees sleeping on concrete floors or in chains. This is unacceptable. I'm demanding accountability and an end to these abuses.

Wilber Rafael Garcés Pérez, 28, was shot by ICE while working as a food delivery driver. ICE must be stopped. Their regime of cruelty will continue until they are held accountable. We need an independent investigation into this shooting immediately. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

The United States can’t arrest it's way out of ending homelessness — but that’s exactly what the Cicero Institute has been pushing for. There are proven ways to address this crisis, and cruelty isn’t one of them.

Today my bill, the Post Disaster Protection Act, passed unanimously out of committee, bringing it one step closer to the House floor! If FEMA gets 90 days to review an appeal, disaster survivors deserve 90 days to make their case. Let’s get this across the finish line.

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! As one of the only Afro-Latinos in Congress, I’m proud to represent Central Florida and our strong Hispanic community. Let’s celebrate the culture, history, and resilience that make our country stronger.

Medicaid money is supposed to help Floridians get healthcare. It is not supposed to be diverted through a nonprofit tied to Governor DeSantis’ family and end up in political campaigns. Floridians deserve answers. We’re demanding them.

Oversight Dems@oversightdemocrats.bsky.social

🚨 BREAKING: Oversight Dems DEMAND answers from Gov. Ron DeSantis on diverting $10 MILLION meant for Floridians struggling to afford healthcare to his wife Casey DeSantis's "nonprofit." Trump may ignore these allegations of corruption, but we will fight for accountability.

This week, I hosted a Service Academy Info Session alongside academy officials to help students learn about the incredible opportunities available to them. Thank you to everyone who joined us, asked thoughtful questions, and helped make this event possible.

25 years ago, our country experienced an unimaginable tragedy. Nearly 3,000 people never made it home to their families, and countless others have lived with that loss every day since. We remember, we mourn, and we recommit ourselves to building a country where we take care of each other.

For too long, ICE and its partners have exploited rebooking practices and detention agreements to circumvent due process and prolong detention. That’s why I introduced the NICE Act to end ICE detainers and immigration holds that allow local jails to keep people in custody.

Congressional Republicans want to talk about "reverse Robin Hood," saying they're defending working people, but their Big Beautiful Bill cut healthcare for 17 million Americans to give tax breaks to billionaires and corporations. The hypocrisy writes itself.

Pierre Damas Bel should be alive. He deserved the chance to build a life and pursue his American Dream. The deliberate cruelty and dehumanization of our Haitian brothers, sisters, and siblings is a policy choice. It does not have to be this way. The Senate must act NOW to restore Haiti TPS.

People experiencing homelessness need homes, not cages. That’s why I introduced the No Homeless Detention Centers Act to make sure federal housing dollars go toward housing people, not locking them away.

Today marks 63 years since the March on Washington, when hundreds of thousands of people gathered to demand justice, freedom, and equality. Let's honor the civil rights leaders who led that historic march by continuing the fight they started.

It’s a damn shame we can afford ballrooms, a war costing us $1 billion a day, and tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy but not healthcare for our people. And thanks to Trump and Congressional Republicans, Floridians are forced to choose between paying their bills and staying healthy.

The biggest deportation flight in months is sending Haitian families back to the violence and instability they fled in the first place.   These folks have nowhere to go because they have lived most of their lives in the U.S.    This is utterly shameful.

The first deportation flight to Haiti since the Trump administration ended humanitarian protections has landed. Deportees from the U.S. are vulnerable to kidnapping, extortion and murder, said Guerline Jozef from the Haitian Bridge Alliance.
