Stuff I did instead of doomscrolling today: - laundry - cooked a meal for the first time in months, slightly overcooked udon that tasted pretty good - made huge progress in my current book

In this current wake of corporations using generative AI left and right, I’m looking at Disney and Epic Games with particular interest. Given their history with producing anthro characters popular with furries, the former company’s examples having endured for decades, it’s definitely relevant.

First, this game has been a huge factor in keeping up with my friends who live far away. We’ve tried other games, but we always come back to Fortnite. Second, I love the ways in which the furry artists and creatives have given these furry characters with varying degrees of in-game lore more depth.

All of this could apply to Disney, too. Idk what my thesis stament is here but I’m just trying to have a positive outlook on an otherwise discouraging situation I guess.

I grew up with Disney movies as a lot of us did, and I’ve been playing Fortnite for around five years now. It’s tough to hear more and more discouraging things about these companies and their practices. It’s not surprising. I won’t judge others for what they decide to do in regard to this, though.

Like if you want to ditch Fortnite, I totally get it. I’m not sure yet what I’ll do. I don’t even play that often anymore, so it wouldn’t be a huge loss. I have spent a bit of money on cosmetics over the years, so that aspect would be a bummer. But regardless, there are a few silver linings.

What I’m really interested in here is that I feel like this is another example of what makes the furry fandom so unique. While other fandoms may struggle to boycott or otherwise abandon something that meant a lot to them, furries aren’t tied to a set of intellectual properties, despite association.

I have been sooo into Tomodachi Life lately that I haven’t played any other games in like a month! At first, I thought the 70 mii limit was pretty impressive, but now that I’m at like 46 miis and counting I want MORE

Late to this trend but whatever Most of these are pretty silly, but if I think too hard about my choices, then I’ll change my mind, and I do NOT want to spend more time on this than I already did 😭

Yesterday’s adventure! Went to the Sonic art exhibit again (Hollywood edition), then Rainforest Cafe again, then Sonic Live in Concert in Riverside! My car wasn’t too happy but I certainly was :D

This year’s ASC was unbelievable. This was truly one of the best weekends of my life. I did the hard thing and went out of my comfort zone a bit, and it payed off immensely. I made so many new friends, partied hard, laughed even harder. Thanks to everyone involved! One of my favorite birthdays ever💛

My experience at ASC has improved so much in the last two days. I’ve met tons of new people, and I’ve put myself out of my comfort zone a bit. It’s not much, but it’s progress. For what it’s worth, I’m pretty proud of myself :)

Sorry to bummer post for a sec, but what is it about loneliness in the furry fandom that just hits so much harder? Especially at cons, I swear. So many people are hanging with friends, having a good time, stepping out of their comfort zones, and I’m just kinda… existing

I enjoy having online friends, and I appreciate my mutuals who I chat with sometimes. But it’s just not the same as having a literal shoulder to cry on, you know? I’m just so lost. I’ve been in this fandom for so long now but I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.

It’s tough, because I’m starting to think that maybe I don’t even want to put in the work to make a relationship. I just want to skip to the good part, I guess, the part where everyone’s chill and laughing and we all know each other well enough to feel safe. Things like that take time.

And the second I’m removed from my comfort zone, even if it’s for something that would benefit me, I retreat. I get overstimulated. I go back to my hotel room and get angry at myself while simultaneously feeling bad for myself.

I’m sure a lot of con goers deal with this stuff. We all get burnt out, anxious, overstimulated, lonely. But I’m sure it’s much more manageable when you have a support system, a friend group, or at least one really good friend, and that’s where I’m at a loss.

I know we aren’t supposed to trust late night thoughts, but geez… I’ve been feel sooooo isolated lately. Lonely for sure. Having a hard time enjoying things. Don’t even know what I’m doing with my life most of the time. I just keep saying “it’ll all work out,” and I hope that I’m right.
