When Dwight Swain was teaching workshops my granddad was still in college. Yet much of his advice rings true today. If I was teaching a class, this is the book we'd use. Read this #writingabtwriting to see if 'Techniques of the Selling Writer' is right for you. 💙📚 #writingq #writingcommunity

This is extremely controversial, actually, Will. Simulating the physical processes of neurons is prohibitively computationally expensive, to the point of being infeasible. And we don't know how much of those processes can be simplified out without losing important data. bsky.app/profile/whst...

Why do we give Charlie Kirk credit for how funny his last words are? It’s the shooter’s comedic timing that made the moment.

Being jealous of other poets is weird. If you want popularity, poetry might be the absolute last thing you should be writing. I'm not sure if you should be writing at all actually. I think the way to get popular is to start a podcast and be wrong about everything.

Oh, honey . . . Dolly Parton disliked everything you are. You are a selfish, venal fool who mocks those with misfortunes, lies, and takes food and medicine away from children. She was a generous, incorruptible sage who comforted those with misfortunes, spoke the truth, and gave to children.

Dolly Parton wasn't just a country music star—she loved nature and had hopes for the environment's future. In a 2022 interview with National Geo, the late musician shared her appreciation of her Tennessee mountain home while urging fans to take better care of the world. Video by Jerry Owens

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 76696: Reading (both widely and critically) is the secret to writing well. No one can expect to write unless they also read, and understand the value of reading.

Others have said it previously, but I love how this promotional image from the 1990 Stephen King's IT looks like a prestige drama courtroom show, that just so also happens to involve a clown.
