Reading AI output significantly hurts my brain. There is something in the way that a lot of models compose sentences that breaks my brain so quickly unlike real human output. Can we make it stop.

How quickly excitement to release can turn into dread to release the game. A side project when there are just not enough days between work and parenting to get everything you want to do done and still sleep so you can show up the next day. #sologamedev #indiegamedev #twitch #steam #typing #gamedev

I finished, after way too long, and too many days in between without getting a chance to touch it, a new level with sfx and gfx. I have a few more ideas to implement quickly and then finish everything else up. You can play the demo on steam (and wishlist if you want to support me: www.fxb.gg/steam

I've got to give myself a little grace, but it's hard juggling family, work and a side project. I'm trying to finish a new level in Typing Stars and it feels like I'm making no progress when working on it between the cracks of time. I'm live on twitch right now trying to finish it. fxb.gg/twitch

Can I build a new game level in 2 hours? No. Not even close to 3. But refactoring my level and word logic has made it much easier to tackle challenging level ideas quicker. There is a lot to build in 25 days. #solodev #indiedev #devlog fxb.gg

I don't know if there is another strategy out of the loop. Maybe better sleep, earlier mornings? But I've struggled with that for 4 months. How are we even at the end of March? And it's not motivation. I'm genuinely excited to implement the final ideas I have to publish the game.

Maybe excuses, maybe this some mental spring cleaning, but dang it I'm doing my best. I'll keep streaming. Slowly chipping away at this. And I'm going to figure out this damn shader problem I'm having and it's going to loop dope.

The pattern lately: 30-40 minutes in the morning. Then I tell myself I'll pick it up after work, after dinner, after the gym, but I'm too busy and tired at night to get back into it. I'm glad I'm streaming on twitch, because I feel held accountable to stream daily and get some micro progress.

I've been trying, and struggling to tell a story without spelling it out. This post wasn't originally about this. I started working on this as tanks rolled into Ukraine, now I'm watching executions on the streets of US. There is a deep undertone of anxiety and anger throughout... #indiedev #gamedev

Some days feel like death by a thousand papercuts. Spent two hours solving overlapping transparent game objects causing additive opacity. Using shader voodoo thanks to Claude, I got it working. Back to building this weird little typing game...

I'm back to working on game play after spending way too much time building a diegetic menu system. I've had this idea for a ship moving minigame since the beginning, but I haven't been able to make it fun. There's a lot to do but I'm testing out a simpler typing movement mechanic. #gamedev

The changes are based on feedback from people who’ve seen the game, and that kind of input is incredibly valuable when you're building solo. That's one of the things that makes streaming game development so fun for me. Come join the community on twitch. #gamedev #indiedev #typinggame

The last 5% of any project is the most difficult. It's easy to build a prototype, but small things like these little asteroid explosion animations add that professional touch needed to ship a game.

Today, I worked on the leaderboard on stream. Updating the fonts and adding more names. It's wild to think that over 100 people have tried the demo and scored on the leaderboard. I hope to update the demo soon so everyone can keep playing as we ramp up the finishing touches on Typing Stars.

You are up to date.
