No matter how much time passes, my heart still breaks for all those impacted eight years ago in the shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue. Eleven beautiful souls were stolen from their families and their congregation. Six others were injured and an entire community was devastated.

Eight years ago today, a white supremacist shot and killed 11 people and injured six others at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Every house of worship should be safe from gun violence, but our communities experience armed hate far too often.

In remembering these hard moments, I am prouder than ever of my Jewish faith — I know that our community is strong, and that love will always overpower hate. Everyone deserves the right to worship in peace and safety, and I’ll always fight for that future.

Three little kids and a teacher were shot and killed at their school today in Bend, Oregon. Two more were injured. Our hearts are broken and we’re angry. It’s disgraceful that extremists keep blocking critical, lifesaving laws while kids die in their classrooms. America can do better. It must.

My heart is completely broken for the children, families, teachers, and entire Silver Rail Elementary community in Bend, Oregon today. Elementary school should be about jungle gyms, math class, and making new friends—not learning where to hide from a shooter.

I’m devastated and heartbroken for the families in Erie who lost loved ones last night, including two young children. Eight lives are gone because of gun violence. We cannot allow families everywhere to keep suffering tragedies like this. Leaders at every level have the responsibility to act, NOW.

Two young children should be growing up today. Instead, their lives were stolen in a horrific mass shooting in Erie, PA that left eight people dead. Our hearts are with their family now facing unimaginable grief. This endless violence must stop. www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/9...

She'll work to prevent violent crime and keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people by advancing commonsense measures like red flag laws & background checks. The New Yorkers I met today in Rockland County are fired up and ready to send Cait to Congress to build the safer future we all deserve.

Thanks to Gotham FC for the special invitation to my first NWSL game! I was honored to meet so many fans, players, coach Juan Carlos, and the staff and owners. It’s true: Everyone watches women’s sports. Good luck in the playoffs, Gotham FC! And @AngelsCityFC, I hope you clinch a playoff spot too!

Today, Mark and Scott are being inducted into the International Space Hall of Fame—a well-deserved honor for two brothers who have never stopped reaching for the stars. Congratulations to you both. And Mark, I’m so proud to call you my husband. ❤️🚀

Representative @angieforfl.bsky.social has stood up against Republican powergrabs in Tallahassee and worked to protect Floridians from senseless gun violence. I know she’s the champion Florida communities need at this moment and I’m proud to endorse her as she runs for U.S. Senate.

GIFFORDS@giffords.org

We’re proud to endorse State Representative @angieforfl.bsky.social in her U.S. Senate bid in Florida. Representative Nixon has been a fighter for Florida families throughout her career.

15 years ago, Mark retired from NASA but he has never stopped serving our country. He wanted to be there for me during my recovery, even if it meant retiring from a job he loved so much.

Today, my heart is in Las Vegas and with all the families grieving nine years since their loved ones were stolen in the attack at Route 91 Harvest music festival. All in a matter of minutes, the gunman was able to use rifles equipped with bump stocks to fire more than 1,000 bullets into the crowd.

Sixty people were killed, hundreds were injured, and thousands of lives were shattered. In the face of such tragedy, Nevadans turned their pain into courage and demanded action.

Their lawmakers passed critical gun safety laws, but there is still much to be done. This November, let’s elect my friend Sandra Jauregui—a survivor of the 1 October shooting who will honor every victim and survivor with action as Nevada’s next lieutenant governor.

I was proud to stand alongside Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan in Minnesota in 2023 as she and Gov. Walz helped expand background checks and pass a red flag law. I saw firsthand what I’ve long known about Lt. Gov. Flanagan: She is a courageous leader who will always stand up for public safety.

The Trump administration is refusing to enforce a nearly 60-year-old federal protection that bans handgun sales to 18, 19, and 20-year-olds. This is very bad. Our kids and communities deserve better.

Shanah Tovah! 🍎🍯 Mark and I are wishing a happy and healthy new year to all those who celebrate Rosh Hashanah. May we all be inscribed and sealed in the Book of Life for a sweet year ahead.

Today, I’m thinking about Christina-Taylor Green on what would be her 25th birthday. She should still be here, celebrating her day with family and friends, but she was shot and killed 15 years ago while waiting to meet me.

At just nine years old, Christina-Taylor had big dreams to make the world a better place—and as a member of her student council, the only girl on her baseball team, and beloved daughter and friend, she was well on her way. Her life and her future should never have been stolen from her.

Mark and I are thinking of the thousands of our fellow Americans who were taken from us on this day 25 years ago, their loved ones, the first responders who ran towards danger to save others, and the countless New Yorkers whose well-being was affected for years after the towers fell.

9/11 was a day of tremendous loss, and also a day when we saw the resiliency of the American spirit — a reminder that even during the darkest times, courage and love overpower hate and division. May we carry that forward.

I know what it takes to fight for gun safety in Congress—and I know how important it is to have colleagues by your side who share that commitment. I’m proud to endorse eight proven leaders across the South, some of whom I’ve worked alongside for years to pass lifesaving gun safety legislation.

GIFFORDS@giffords.org

From Texas to Florida and all across the South, gun safety champions are fighting to protect their communities and save lives. We’re proud to endorse 8 proven leaders for reelection to Congress who have consistently stood up to the gun lobby and fought for commonsense gun safety laws.

Gloria Steinem was a force of nature and a fierce champion for women’s rights and equality in America. I was lucky to know Gloria and witness firsthand her grit, courage, and unwavering commitment to a more just world for all.

My friend, Governor @iamwesmoore.bsky.social, understands that keeping our communities safe means tackling gun violence from every angle. He’s helped transform his state and save lives — and I’m proud to endorse him for reelection.

GIFFORDS@giffords.org

We’re proud to endorse @iamwesmoore.bsky.social for reelection as Maryland’s governor! Under Gov. Moore’s leadership, MD has made major strides to prevent gun violence—from investing in community violence intervention to strengthening gun safety laws and holding the gun industry accountable.

This November, we have an opportunity to send more gun safety champions to Congress—and build a majority that will put the safety of our communities first. I’m proud to endorse seven leaders ready to stand up to the gun lobby and fight for safer communities.

GIFFORDS@giffords.org

We’re proud to endorse seven strong gun safety champions running to flip key seats, win critical open races, and bring a new generation of gun safety champions to Washington.

I am devastated to hear about the shooting that took place this morning in my hometown of Tucson, targeting the LGBTQ+ community. Armed hate is deadly and wrong. And most importantly: it can be stopped. I am mourning today’s victims and praying for their families. www.kold.com/2026/08/31/t...

Florida needs an attorney general who will protect its gun safety laws and stand up to the gun lobby. I’m proud to endorse @josejavierjjr.bsky.social and know he’ll be that leader.

I’ve met with survivors and families forever changed by the shootings at Pulse and Parkland. I carry their stories with me, and I know how important it is to elect leaders who will fight to prevent more families from experiencing that pain.

Now more than ever, the Sunshine State needs a champion in office who will stand up to the gun lobby, fight to save lives, and build a safer future for the next generation.

Today marks one year since Fletcher and Harper’s parents last held their babies. My heart is with them, and the entire city of Minneapolis, as they continue to grieve this tragic loss at Annunciation Catholic School.

This shooting should never have happened. Legislators in Minnesota and in Congress have a responsibility to pass strong, commonsense gun safety laws to help ensure the next school shooting never does.

Michigan has shown what’s possible when we elect leaders with the courage to act. This weekend, I was proud to campaign alongside so many incredible gun safety champions running in key races and meet the volunteers and voters working hard to keep Michigan moving forward.

I’m proud to endorse these California leaders who are working to protect our schools, homes, and communities from gun violence. They are unafraid to stand up to the gun lobby and pass gun laws proven to save lives.

GIFFORDS@giffords.org

From San Diego to the Bay Area, we are seeing commonsense gun safety laws save lives in historic numbers. To protect this progress — and to continue building on it — Californians must elect these gun safety champions this November.
