Seems like Capcom is bringing MORE old games to current systems, BUT, unlike the MM collection games, NONE of them are being released physically I know LRG has a relationship w/them, but since Fairhurst left, I don't see the new regime taking advantage & releasing these newer games on disc/cart

This is one that confuses me seeing the Steelbook selling out. (other than FOMO) The standard is readily available, the swag doesn't seem like a reason to upgrade. What am I missing here?🤔🤷‍♂️

They could literally fit the 1.0 build on 2 discs, if optimized it still would be 2, but other than excessive greed, there's no reason for this to be completely digital & bloated like this considering HDD space is at a premium these days.🤦‍♂️

Makes no sense. Ghost of Yotei had good sales numbers & made back its budget and a nice profit for Sony. Will be interested in hearing the behind the scenes on this, something isn't telling here.🤨

The sales aren't spectacular, but at least they're ALMOST all new releases (for once) we haven't seen that in a VERY long time, almost all of the Top 10 has had the SAME games week in and out Shows how badly the industry has had to release enough titles weekly to entice buyers to get something new

Btw, very few of these acquisitions still are operating today, sent to the call of duty mines or had staff cut and merged with other companies within their portfolio So much quality talent lost because of their ineptitude 🤦‍♂️

without closing it years later because they don't know how to manage **** w/o killing the creativity they originally saw in it I can't even give Trip Hawkins (EA's founder) credit, because he was a calculating guy too, but when the bean counters came into power, EA sucked any fun / creativity out

any studios they had doing good work for them. If they wouldn't have been focused solely on year over year profit & keep the creatives doing good work on budget, they'd be the juggernaut they used to be Instead of being bought by private equity & now in the SAME place as many of their acquisitions

already in a bad spot in 2005 when EP wanted to sell them for profit & move on Not staying independent was the worst things that happened to both studios I know back then, they thought it's what they needed for growth, but they signed their studios away Also, when has EA ever managed a studio

I was curious who was publishing this. Seems Idea Factory is doing it, hopefully they'll get some QoL fixes before it comes west, the reviews in JPN weren't kind.

Even though it's going to be MORE like a PC, it still ISN'T going to be a PC So it SHOULDN'T be priced like one either, if it can't do everything a PC does. Then next gen is going to be a train wreck, I don't know why MS & Sony are barreling down to ruin Nintendo is happy to sick back & watch

If people were NOT happy with a $500 Nintendo console, then most definitely a $1200+ system isn't going to fly, except by the most 'hardcore' aka the crazies They should definitely post-pone the launches by about 2 years, we don't need a console war arms race like years past

size. But also as game sizes have bloated upwards & past 100GB & physical media hasn't kept pace (on PC) that this wasn't a viable alternative (PC users don't get optical drives mostly installed these days) So THAT is a high level reason why PC left physical behind, but consoles don't have that

same issue, that is these companies wanting to shut down expensive manufacturing plants, save money to repurpose those businesses to something else since physical has diminished in the console space Basically they're pulling the bandage off now (even though they should have waited until end of gen)

didn't last long (as it was a pain & had major backlash) Then Valve launched Steam & games still on disc became 'Steam Keys' which needed 'online' authentication through Steam's servers to work (again backlash) So companies instead just started to go all digital w/Steam to combat piracy even more

We already know that Denuvo, Star Force, etc. were STILL being used in addition to Steam, etc. as an added anti-piracy measure But it was SOLELY due to piracy that PC gaming moved directly to digital. File sizes didn't help, but it wasn't uncommon for a PC title to ship on 2-8 discs depending on

in with newer releases around that time. (this wasn't common in releases up to the late 90's - early 00's) Eventually those CD keys were broken or people created Key Gen programs to get around them. Then we saw even more DRM in the form of phone home (connecting to a server for authentication) this

A former LRG release that CRG has taken and reissued (I assume sales were good) to retail I expect Embracer will have CRG stripmine everything they can to make a profit off of LRGs corpse as they continue to shift over signed games & push new product via the CRG label since LRG brand is toxic still

So do gamers push back or is this too far gone that it's too late to put the genie back in the bottle? I've been saying it's a slippery slope for over a year & many people won't like where the industry as a whole is going to be going.

Undercutting themselves with a retail release, offering a slipcover, deluxe and a free action figure is odd. I guess most/all LRG exclusives will keep going this way Nothing like making your sister company irrelevant. 😂🤦‍♂️

To emphasize my comment about Otaku = SS players Out of the Top 250 rated games (by JPN SS players) At least ~5 were Omake (bonus) discs, not other games, but supplemental material for popular RPGs (Grandia, Soul Hackers, Sakura Wars, etc.) That's crazy to see those included & not other games

Gamesmaster5555@gamesmaster5555.bsky.social

system served the Otaku (hardcore) gamer demo in JPN Nintendo had DQ & FF, so if you wanted to play those you needed FC & SFC PS2 is mentioned as a contributor to DC JPN failure, but I think it's deeper than that & even w/SS support being pulled or DC, I still think it's more complex overall

Capcom was one of the few third parties to give FULL support to Sega on both the SS & DC (they also provided support during the SG/MD era) Many exclusive titles (arcade ports) were released on both systems that you couldn't get (or get arcade perfect) on any other system, no 3rd party that I know

supplied as many titles as Capcom did for Sega during that era I think Capcom wanted to maximize profits (while the arcade business was shrinking) so bringing home ports of those titles made perfect sent to them as a company that still was heavily invested in the arcade markets late 90's-early 00's

For some reason, which I don't really comprehend, Sega has never really had a system that was popular in EVERY territory WW MK III - JPN/SA Genesis/MD - US/EU SS - JPN DC - US/EU If the system was popular in JPN, it wasn't in the west, visa versa every gen I feel it the prevailing idea was which

Gamesmaster5555@gamesmaster5555.bsky.social

It really isn't until you go beyond the Top 50 that you get more diverse genres being represented (pinball, wrestling, etc) Even still RPG & VN are heavily skewed (with Fighting Games & Shmups representing too) SS was a real Otaku system

I'm not sure how much 'better' these are going to look compared to an 'updated' version... It's only one gen old, instead of calling it definitive (with whatever DLC they put into the package) won't give it much of an improvement other than maybe FPS or some resolution increase (if we're lucky)🤷‍♂️

Mafia II: Definitive Edition & Mafia III: Definitive Edition are ESRB rated for PS5/Xbox Series

And I do appreciate them reprinting harder to get titles (like Astral Chain, which was selling for silly money on Ebay) But this is something that Nintendo could have done to meet aftermarket demand (anyone remember Devil's Third on Wii U & how they only did a limited print, then a 2nd print later)

Gamesmaster5555@gamesmaster5555.bsky.social

Some interesting information in this post, I don't necessarily agree w/the you MUST pre-order comment (even though in some cases allocations of more niche stuff is harder to get, but larger named releases should be fine) I was noticing for NSW1 many games from larger pubs bsky.app/profile/vgp-...

It's a shame that were in a place now that retail stores have to make the requests, do the reprint (on their dime) & sell the product for companies to even care enough to do it It's to be expected, but it's still stupid regardless with how the gaming industry has been hurting itself all these years
