ETHOS

Game Dev Progress coming along great!

Kess Dissident Mage | Liara T'Soni - Mass Effect Ref. Game Cinematic Not for sale.

Excited that one of my game prototypes is finally ready for feedback. Took a little longer than I wanted but I wanted to give some aspects some polish.

Since I started working on a FPS prototype one thing I didn't expect I would be doing so early is really building a foundational quality enemy AI system. It's amazing how this system has also helped inform the level design requirements and goals, audio systems and mechanics.

Great feeling when you find a optimization win that reduces loading times from 15 seconds down to 100 ms...

One of my biggest challenges for my RPG game is having to develop a card game with its own rules and design and another RPG layer on top of it for roleplaying and customization. I feels like a spiritual successor to some of the old GBA yugioh RPGs.

Balancing two projects of different genres is a interesting challenge, but I haven't lost my mind yet. Strangely enough, I find that switching between them kind of helps me reset and rethink the design of the other. They have a very strange level of symbiosis with each other.

On my second project which is a FPS, making massive strides with game feel. Gunplay is coming together really nice and already feels solid. I even set up a dynamic weapon system so I can easily prototype and tweak every detail of each weapon. Overall 10/10 blast this wkn in development.

Progress update. I have finished all the card content for the prototype and everything looks functional. Next I gotta setup some dialogue, UI and sound. A little polish to go and should be ready for first test.

Now entering March, my goal is to get my prototype finalized for playtesting with a small group of friends and ppl who I feel can give me specialized insight. Just gotta finish implementing the last group of content and some tutorial polish

I've been really obsessed with how older games had a bunch of features in their game that were hidden from players. Old pokemon games are truly fascinating to learn about their design process. Makes we want to do the same with my next project.

I hateeeeeee programming gameplay cameras. 😡

Technical pipelines will be the death of me.

YES FIXED 2 BIG BUGS THAT HAVE BEEN KILLING ME ALL WEEK! PROGRESS!

I never want to try programming a personality matrix EVER AGAIN. I broke so many other systems just to get it to interact properly.

the past couple of hours have been coding hell.......im going to sleep and letting future me figure it out.

Introducing 🔄 CaptchaStash 🔄 When the machines rise, we'll need the ultimate digital security to protect our physical goods. This beautiful box uses everybody's favorite - reCAPTCHA - to keep the bots OUT. DMs open for investors only.

Why yes Ethos, you would love to innovate on a Dialogue System as a stand out new feature. No Ethos, you didn't think about how many hours it would take to actually develop such a system....

Found a dope artist who is assisting me in character design and finally finished some more UI technical work. Now I just need to prototype one last main feature that is pretty complex and depending on how that turns out I'll lock in the current feature list and core mechanics of the game.

I was finally able to figure out the art style for my prototype. Moving faster than my own expectations & might have a first playable done before Q4. I got most of the core mechanics set. I think now I want to focus more on world building, characters and story scenario.

Making internal dev tools to help speed up your dev pipeline and scalable for production is so rewarding when you get it just right. I'm so glad everything I learned working on samurai zero is paying off in dividends.

Finally had a breakthrough over the weekend with some gameplay elements that I just couldn't figure out for the longest. Gotta playtest it but if it works out I'll be able to reach my personal goal before the end of the summer.

Interesting place to be in where your programming is progressing at such a pace, that design is now what is slowing you down. I never have had to deal with this before...

who would of guessed just like everything with game development, making screen transitions is a challenge lol

Almost had a stroke yesterday programming trying to figure out why I couldn't get a plug-in to work and it was all because I didn't use an underscore for a function....

Been learning a new game engine and coding for the past week and this is the most rewarding feeling I have felt in the past year. This finally might get me out of the depressive slump I've been stuck in for a while.

Paradise might be one of them ones. Shoutout to @gamingethos.bsky.social for putting me on to peak television

Loving Monster Hunter Wilds so far. Been doing high end content and it's scratching that itch.

Finally caught up on Silo and Severance. My god this is a lot to unpack.
