Slacktivism. Even if Hoekstra was expelled, we would get assigned someone else just as terrible. There are no good people in the Trump administration.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ 280,667 Canadians have now signed petition e-7531 calling for U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra to be declared persona non grata and expelled from Canada. That's 443 more signatures overnight! Add your name before November 18. www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en...

Asshole ex-husband of neighbour comes to pick up daughter. Parks in TWO spots in our private lot, one of them mine. I tell him to move and he threatens me with violence. He then gets mad when I swear because his daughter is there. So, swearing is bad, but violence and arrogance are fine?

There is hope for Sask yet.

To the people who are still talking about how Canada is "not taking Alberta seriously" -- what on earth are you talking about? The PM is an Albertan. The leader of the opposition is an Albertan. Our national politics revolve around Alberta's interests and concerns. What else do you want?

I'll never understand people who instead of strategically voting to keep shitheads out of power will smugly vote for their fringe party. So instead of a govt they mildly disagree with they get shitheads who will destroy everything they want.

The #1 lesson from the Alberta referendum is that conservatives are hell bent on gutting the Canadian constitution. We must never allow them the 50%/7 with a federal conservative govt or we are truly fucked.

Holy shit batman.

Today's thought. Pollsters sample a small portion of the population to (mostly) reliably predict the voting habits of the larger population. Why do we get cries of "no mandate!" from low voter turnout then? Statistically, it should still be representative of the entire population.

lol at Canadian political parties trying to do Mamdani things except they're missing the key ingredient to doing Mamdani things which is Mamdani.

On the "Pacific Link" pipeline, the ball is now squarely in the oil and gas industry's court. If the project fails, they won't be able to blame Ottawa for their own refusal to fill it. I suspect that was the prime minister's plan all along. #cdnpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2026/10/02/o...

nationalobserver.comCanada’s pipeline politicking is about to collide with economic realityThe ball for the west coast oil pipeline β€” sorry, the "Pacific Link" β€” is now fully in the oil and gas industry's court. One big question remains: are they actually willing to fill it?

Carney knows the pipeline politics are good for national unity and getting Alberta to just STFU already. Trudeau and especially Steven Guilbeaut pissed off a lot of folks out here. Carney is a pragmatist though. If the economics are not there, it doesn't get built. Simple as that.

I LOVE CBC's new sports programming. Yeah, men's hockey has been the thing in Canada for decades, but maybe it's time we gave some other sports and women's hockey it's due. Canada isn't just the fucking NHL.

Note to media organizations. I will never ever purchase a fucking subscription to read your articles. I want to start a tech company that focuses solely on micro-payments for things like this. Media would earn more by charging 25c an article than begging people to subscribe.

They might not win any more seats, but they might win again. At the very least it resets the clock for another 4 years.

By painting economic growth and fiscal discipline as "right-wing," the left has backed itself into a corner. Ceding financial reality to the centrists and conservatives isn't principled, it's political surrender.

The pundits here seem to forget how our democracy works. The Liberals did not need to have the details of every policy they were ever going to introduce as legislation during the election campaign. That's insane and impossible. A majority created from floor crossings and by elections is also fine.

An early election call (nonsensical in Westminster Parliamentary system but anyways) is labelled a "power grab". It only gives more power to the government if they win more seats. But then it should be called a "stronger mandate"

Leftists: WHY WON'T CARNEY DO SOMETHING ABOUT PALESTINE! Carney: Here's $100 million for Gaza, support two state solution, would arrest Netanyahu for ICC, arms embargo, trade restriction Leftists: CaRnEy iS CoMpLiciT iN GenOciDe! This is how stupid things are.

I read through C-39 quickly and used AI to get summaries and answer questions on certain points. Most of the hyperbole here about C-39 is asburdly inaccurate. With any legislation there are legitimate concerns on some points, but people need to tough grass.

All the opposition parties keep crying that Carney doesn't have a mandate to do all the things he's doing. I don't think they would like the results if an election were called to solidify a mandate. Both PP and Avi would have a hard time actually getting elected.

Mark Carney, as a top economist, understands that TRUST is everything. The world is figuring out who it can trust and that is not the USA. Saying Carney has some hidden agenda is nonsense, as that undermines trust.
