So Rocketwerkz released their engine framework thing they use for Kittens Space Agency on Github and it has a permissive AI policy, and NGL, I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed. BTW this is also the foundation of Rimworld 1.7.

One review is like "a farming with a twist: you have to provide food for your village" and that's incredibly revealing of how weird most farming sims are. Most of them are like "this food belongs in a museum."

And yes I do hate both Stardew Valley and Fields of Mistria. For all the good vibes those games are incredibly weird and unpleasant, from the way they see food and farming to the way they see interpersonal relationships. It's all nightmare stuff.

I just read the words "wholesome post-apocalyptic world" and I think pastoral fantasy games went too far.

Like folks it's a proprietary game from a commercial dev. And on the other hand, the "patron" setup means they end up having to give "rewards," which _once again_ include player content, which in 2026 means just what you'd expect.
