don’t tell them, but i think maybe just possibly these two have become friends. (at least 73% of the time the older gal still acts like her baby sister is the literal worst possible thing of her entire existence and she’s generally of a mind everything is a burden.)

Guide to happy

earlier this week the doggy cam invented stairs in our single-floor home. today it’s claiming my dog climbed onto the kitchen counter. (she would never - and the clip attached to the notification proved it!)

this retirement thing seems pretty great.

the accuracy of this depresses me.

doggy cam just notified me my German shepherd is climbing stairs and i have so many questions. our apartment is one floor!

in dog news, despite the older gal fooling no one with her acts of indifference to her new baby sister every morning post-breakfast the kitchen is GSD Thunderdome™️ while the boy and i get ready for work. of course, it’s all innocent faces sitting amongst toy carnage when we check on the ruckus.

one fun(ny) fact i’ve observed over the years of working with a guide dog is whenever the driver leaves the vehicle they react like it’s a catastrophic event! i guess they think we’re stranded? 🤔

first road trip with the shepherds. older gal is already done with this $%#@! 😂 but her little sister is oh so excited!

the silly antics of my new #guidedog have inspired a game. i call it “does the dog have ADHD or is this just two-year-old behavior?” current results are inconclusive, but very entertaining! (for context, as i type, this she has a bone under her paw and is spinning in circles trying to chew it.)

look, i’m truly honored, but we are undoubtedly screwed if i’m 50% of this chosen hero solution. also, my feeties are always cold; i need them waterproof shoes. (i do appreciate the 80s bangers that are on constant repeat in our transport, though.)

grand jury duty has been way more interesting and enjoyable than being a trial juror. but my one complaint is i can’t use my phone all day and so couldn’t document how abundantly adorable my new #guidedog was!

i’m amazed how few people have noticed i am working a different shepherd. (outside of friends and officemates who obviously knew about this beforehand.) they look nothing alike and are vastly different sizes but i guess to most people GSDs are interchangeable. unrelated photo #justcause.

First day of training for wifeys new guide dog. I treated her to a giant tennis ball after the day was done. It lasted 5 very fun minutes.

overall, things here are going pretty well. 😊

yesterday was this #guidedog’s final trip home on the bus. she was not impressed. tomorrow is her last day in harness and it’s become clear she’s pretty much done with this working shit.

four days left and this soon-to-be retired #guidedog is checked in like never before!
