Hearts of Glass isn’t just about the ’80s — it’s about what it costs to be different, and what it means to be loved anyway. Jenny’s othered. Her crime? She's profoundly deaf. And she fights to be seen as a strong woman. This one’s for anyone who ever had to survive just by being themselves. 💜

What song got you through your toughest teenage days? For Cassie in Hearts of Glass Living in the Real World, it’s probably Blondie’s “One Way or Another”. For me, it was "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper. I’m curious to hear yours! #MusicMemory #80s

One beautiful surprise of this journey is seeing younger readers (Millennials and Gen Z) connect with my very Gen X story. It turns out the themes in Hearts of Glass Living in the Real World are universal and timeless. It reminds me that stories can bridge generations in the best way.

A line from Hearts of Glass that gave me chills when @jlvoice.com says it in the upcoming audiobook! 👉 "You didn't fall apart. You stood up to him. I'm proud of you." (If you’ve ever felt a bit fragile yourself, this one’s for you.) Audiobook drops July 25th!

Meet Ford! Once a child model, now a guarded teen trying to rebuild after trauma. Ford is quiet, observant, kind, and fighting to trust again. In Hearts of Glass Living IRL, his story is raw, real, and unforgettable. And in the upcoming audiobook, @jlvoice.com voices him with haunting precision.

Fox Valley Mall, 1989. Orange Julius in hand. Blondie on the speakers. Hope in your chest and Aqua Net in the air. 💖 That’s where Hearts of Glass takes you—right back to the mall rat days. ✨ Audiobook drops July 25.

Neon lights, Orange Julius smoothies, and 80s rock echoing in a busy mall – those were my safe havens . The places we escape to are where we grow and discover found family. Where was your favorite place to escape as a teen?

The custom Father's day card from my bio kiddo & one of my "adopted" ones. Fatherman is a nickname I've had for years. I'm surrogate dad for my kid's LGBTQIA+ and other unaccepted kiddos. To this day my house is full on tday and xmas for my precious loves! #fathersday #imnotcryingyouare #fatherman

"I am a survivor of my past trauma and loved this book. It was so well written and true to the topic. I grew up in the northern Illinois area so reading of the mall and other places I grew up going to made the story all the more real to me. Can not wait for the next book from this author."

I went to Phoenix Fan Fusion to sell books. I left with something much deeper. From a stranger on a plane with rainbow socks to a nonbinary Mabel chain-smoking wisdom outside the con the lessons abounded and healed me and inspired me! 👉 Read the full story: www.genxwatch.com/generational...

Today I finished Alexis Nicole Almanzar's amazing book "Where Shadows Burn". I wrote a review on it on the usual suspects. I will say here... all the stars and if you traded paperbacks like we did mixtapes, you will love it too. My only complaint? I wanted more when I was done! I need a book 2!

Hi all! I need your feedback. What does “rebellion” mean to you? My vision is protest in paperback! I believe books are resistance. Stories spark revolution. I want to celebrate stories that fight back and bring people together. GenX RIOTGRRL punks, LGBTQIA+ PRIDE year round, and Gen Z fire!

Story: Met this delightful person at airport. Complemented her pride outfit. Boarded plane, got a sweet isle seat. Saw a lotta snapback dudebros. Didn't want her next to a creep, so I moved to center seat by her, let her be, and wrote. Then she spoke. Amazing human! Gave her book as a thank you!

We all need a moment of validation and strength between two people who have seen each other's darkest moments. This is one of the most critical things found family and love can give us. Validation that we matter, that it happened, that the person who hurt us was wrong!

This Pride Month, we celebrate the fierce, the loyal, and the ones who show up when it matters most. For every LGBTQIA+ person who’s ever been let down, left out, or pushed aside…you need better friends and someone who will be there. Let's fight like hell to protect the ones who matter. You matter!

In Hearts of Glass Living in the Real World, Jenny needed to know if Ford was an ally. He shows that masculinity can be gentle & not threatened by LGBTQIA+ people. As Pride Month begins, we remember that the fight for equality lives in both loud resistance & quiet validation. Happy PRIDE month!
