I've used #Docker for 10+ years and I thought I knew how image layers work. Then I asked one innocent question: if layers are just tar archives stacked on top of each other, how can a layer DELETE a file from a previous one? 🧵 loige.co/hidden-desig...

Well I am doing a bit of a thing over here! shippingbytes.com/2026/09/21/b... I am going to commercially support Tinkerbell, an oss bare metal provisioning! If you are building your own datacenter or you need help modernizing it I am here! #datacenter #pop #baremetal #cloud #oss #onprem

It looks like starting from next week I will be in Berlin for the next 6 months! I can't wait to say hello to a couple of friends from the tech space 🚀

#llm #ai I tried ollama cloud for a month side by side to claude pro (I paid full year) and I feel like it is a nice addition in this way I can play a bit with open weight model as well. Do I have better option that #ollama cloud or is it the one? 😅

I think it is time to get a proper rack for my #homelab. But I don't know the options out there. Any tips?!

random changes to claude code behavior is annoying. For example now it looks like auto mode is disabled somewhere. It was not the case a few days ago. I can't find how to enable it. It also switched automatically to "consume mode" when I went over my session limit. It didn't to it two weeks ago..

It is not the first time this year my laptop does not have enough resources to properly run the huge codebases my customers needs help with! So I put together a NixOS (since I already have devshells per customer) and automation to get a ondemand ready to go and configured dev env.

I don't know how it happened but I just noticed that #claude code moved to "Now using usage credits" and maybe I was too much into Yes man mode but I remember the 94% limit and at some point I just started thinking "oh this 6% looks pretty big" 💸

I would like to buy #headphones. airpod style but I am on linux/android. primarily phone call, listening to podcast, youtube and so on. Good options to suggest?! #lazyweb

This year I keep working at projects that saturate my laptop spec. I have a #thinkpad X1 Carbon with 16Gb RAM... should I try to buy one of those #nvidia #DGX #Spark so I can also contribute to the ecosystem?! I am thinking about getting one too often those days

We are moving to #Berlin for 6 months with out little 2y old! Feedback are more than welcome! Currently trying to recover from a first round searching for an apartment via wunderflats.com 💥💸🤣

‪ It is like Christmas everyday! You just need to tell your boss that an agent needs it to work better and you can get better cli, up to date api documentation, full rewrite of the project that never worked in the language you like the most and whatever you want all well payed!!! Thanks #ai !

Claude code state is broken again and I am wasting time trying to fix it without having to wipe again the claude cache... And "Claude Pro users are not currently able to use Opus in Claude Code. The current model is now Sonnet." I don't remember this was the case yesterday

#claude keeps corrupting its local state folder and it fails miserably to start at least once a week. I think it is time to ask claude to migrate the project to what? #java ?

I use #KeepassX since forever but I feel like it does not integrate that well anymore with my setup or maybe it is a skill issue. I uses it as system keyring but I feel there is some race condition and Evolution Calendar does not correctly authenticate with Google and external calendars. #linux

I have a few months open for new work. If you're scaling a #startup and need hands-on help with automation, #kubernetes, or #o11y let's talk. If you're trying to figure out where AI actually fits in your product without the hype also me. Pragmatic hitch-hiking available. 🚐 shippingbytes.com

Are we investing a lot in dressing our business to be agent friendly, agent ready or what ever. I get it, but I thought those things were supposed to be the super smart! Why they need all this effort? #ai #agent #llm

I wrote about the hidden cost of “vibe coding.” AI makes it easy to generate working software fast. But someone still has to: * maintain it * debug it * secure it * understand it months later A demo is not the same thing as a sustainable system. shippingbytes.com/2026/05/07/v...

I am fine with all of "cli al the things" I am a CLI person. All the noise around them is a bit too much. My inclination to use CLI i suppose make me almost like an agent (open to be paid per token if you want)

Most arguments about AI-generated code are talking past each other. Robby Russell asks "does it work?" often yes. Paul Stack asks "does it keep working?" that's where vibe coding breaks down. Both are right. They're just answering different questions. New post shippingbytes.com/2026/04/22/d...

shippingbytes.comDoes it work, or does it keep working? – shipping bytesMost arguments about AI-generated code are talking past each other. I have been watching this debate for months now and I think I finally understand why it never resolves: the two sides are answering ...

When y make your LLM to add a detail plan for itself to use and you commit it for a human to review with a commit message that is a line by line translation from code to "human" and a PR description that is again another verbose translation from A to B for 100 lines changes how do you feel?

I think there is a lot we can learn about "how much we care about something" from "coding agent usage pattern". At least I can clearly recognize it for myself, perfect time to walk out, drink some water, resign.

I caught up with Matt Klein, one of the famed developers behind the Envoy Proxy, and had a chat about AI and why the hype machine has gone too far. I think the industry is putting machines over people and the tradeoff leans too far in the rent seeker's favor.

🎙️New episode of Beyond the Noise! Matt Klein brings on Kelsey Hightower. Kelsey talks through what AI is doing to developer salaries, what he tells junior engineers wondering if they picked the wrong field, and why open source is the only realistic check on what's being built today: buff.ly/VUD6ktX

The real win about all of this #llm coding agents #ai madness? Finally people figured out TMUX 😀 At least something good will survive this weird gold rush time

They also have a good amount of data that can be turned into public datasets that may force big companies to pay to be excluded or anonymized from but they can think about some pay-per-use at some scale strategy? I know a registry that is not free for everybody and everything is bad for marketing..
