I’m at a zine festival and I heard one woman talk about riso printing, but she pronounced it “rizzo” and now I want to make prints using puppets of rodents

Hardware Wars was released 48 years ago today. "Fluke Starbucker and his mentor, Augie "Ben" Doggie, retrieve a crucial message from the loyal robots, Artie-Deco and 4-Q-2, and join forces with Ham Salad and his shaggy partner, Chuke-Chilla."

Thinking about HyperCard and why people aren’t still using something descended from it; starting to worry that it actually sucked the whole time

Do the charming little hand-drawn games and whatnot just lose their appeal after you’ve made or played one once? I’m thinking about this separate from the nostalgia issue, but I’ve always just kind of assumed the model had more going for it than its new-cool-thing energy. Was I wrong?

I think there’s value in taking the whole everything-is-a-database programming model to the particular set of metaphors that HyperCard does, but maybe not for very many people. Here’s to my sickos

Yes I know about Decker, I’m a satisfied customer. But like, is the reason it’s not still a category of software, like on the scale of there being a Google Stacks or something, that it was just… easier to use a spreadsheet?

Dear Apple Computer, I just searched for "big walk" on the Mac App Store and these are the top 5 results: 1. Distance Tool 2. QuickPedometer - Walk & Run 3. Tai Chi Sit Stand Walk 4. Freelance Dog Walks 5. Talky - Walkie Talkie, Radio I'd just like to say: inspiring. Yours, Mike

I am so angry I didn't think of it: if you're Wizards, you should never put out a TTRPG that's not D&D; *but that just means putting "Dungeons and Dragons" in front of every TTRPG you put out.*

It's so simple it's brilliant. Dungeons and Dragons Star Wars. Change all the rules, who cares, it's D&D, half your customers will never look at the rules anyway.

It’s funny how the three “creative agendas” from the Forge days have slowly self-organized into the OSR, the FKR, and… the mainstream of the hobby

Turns out that the "other D&D" I've been thinking about would fit comfortably under the Free Kriegspiel Revival that some have started talking about, but what's interesting to me are unconfirmed stories of that style of play just... emerging naturally? From kids at school D&D clubs and such.

I can't prove that the reports of this are really happening; also the reporters are always dismayed and surprised that anyone could do this, when it's... so simple and elemental that it's actually shocking we haven't been doing it in a more conscious way for hundreds of years.

Like, they heard about what D&D was supposed to be, and then disregarded the rulebook and started playing. Sometimes they roll dice, but it's pretty much a social game for the DM: can you keep your players interested, having fun, *and* feeling like you're being fair?

How bad an idea is it to write a rulebook for D&D, to describe the game without a rulebook that a likely bare majority of D&D players are actually playing?

It feels so ridiculously indulgent to be making videos at all, let alone videos where I don’t have a lot on my mind. All those bits and bandwidth. What can I do to make these a lil heftier

It's been clear for a hot minute an anti-autism diagnosis campaign is in the works but I am truly stunned they are literally just going for the Detransitioner playbook
