With the growing season ending, Luis is getting ready for our huge Farm in a Box initiative starting next month, which will mean growing year-round. Lots of big things coming up for the London Food Bank, but with Luis and his expertise, it will be exciting. This was a great season.

We're decided. Now it's a new day and time to decide again to work together as a community on the old problems with a new spirit to refocus our efforts on the future. Congratulations to all.

Special thank you to Wesley-Knox United Church for pulling the community together to fill the van for the London Food Bank. Lots of participation. Lots of food. Lots of compassion. Thank you all.

It's soon. We'll have to decide whether to reach for a collaborative community or an onging divided one - and the consequences will be real.

The new Food Banks Canada Hungercount is out and the story is the same across the country - growing food insecurity and few solutions. The answer? It's time for governments at all levels to get back to their responsibilities and relieve the pressures on communities like ours. youtu.be/po771BGsB1o

Strange as it may seem, the future of a food bank is shaped not only by the generosity of those who give, but by the choices of those who vote. For the ballot box, too, can determine who goes hungry and who finds hope. Please vote.

It was a remarkable 10 days - beginning 25% down and ending 25% up. It was our community in action and compassion. Despite economic challenges, citizens, organizations, and businesses surged forward in a display of generosity that we can't forget. Thank you to everyone.

Strong mayor powers, used to excess, can become deeply divisive on council and citizens. It's more about weak provincial powers, where the province pulls back from its federalist responsibilities, leaving communities abandoned. youtu.be/j7mxFoOiLlQ

I don't know what else to say except THANK YOU. What a 10-day food drive!!!!! Over half of the food we received goes to other agencies, so your generosity this Thanksgiving will stretch even further. London doesn't just overcome, it excels in moments like these. #LdnOnt

It's the final shopping day for the Food Drive and I wanted to say a personal thanks for your generosity. These are tough times but our community is tougher and compassionate. The total stands at 103,387 lbs with one day to go. You've stuck with us because that's who you are .. it's appreciated.

Whew! We caught up to last year's food drive total just as we move into the big final weekend - 91,191 lbs. London is doing what it has always done every year - met the London Food Bank demand. How can we not be thankful? Help if you can in this last weekend. The drive ends on Monday. #LdnOnt

Every week, I head into RBC Place to go over the Homeless Lunch Program with chefs and staff. They are the best, representing some of the great qualities of our local business community. They always make room for my little SmartCar 'cause that's just the kind of people they are. We owe them much.

Presently, we're only 4,000 lbs behind last year's total at this time. and catching up fast. Food and funds are flowing in - thank you London. Half of the food from this year's drive will come in this weekend and we know the gnerosity will be abundant. Help of you can. And THANK YOU, London.

The food drive is now at 43,934 lbs - down 11% from last year but catching up fast. The food bank has a wide reach, spreading to every quadrant of the city. That's how far your donations go and we're always deeply appreciative of your generosity. Thank you, London.

I often felt that Gord Hume understood this city far better than it understood itself. This deeply knowledgeable man passed away yesterday and the good people of Loondon will miss his insights and contributions. Thank you, Gord .... for all of it. #LdnOnt

This is unprecedented. Donations to the Thanksgiving Food Drive - 23,373 lbs - are down 25% compared to last year at this time. The reasons will all be valid and the cost of living is taking its toll. The drive ends on Thanksgiving Monday and we're not worried. Help if you can ... and thank you.

Here we go! Getting all set up for the London Food Bank's 40th anniversary for celebrating our community. Looking forward to seeing all of you who made this moment possible. Speakers will be on at noon. See you soon.

A special thank you to City Councillor Hadlleigh McAlister for his visit today and a certificate of congratulations for our 40th. Had a terrific talk about food security. I had missed his earlier entry on his platform about the subject and was thankful for his interest. #LdnOnt

Here's the press conference for the kickoff of the Thanksgiving Food Drive. Jane at her best and some pivotal guests from Feed Ontario. This is an important drive, making a statement about London's generosity in difficult times. Help if you can. And thank you. youtu.be/nEMpYizxStE

Today is the kickoff press conference for the Thanksgiving Food Drive - happening just 2 days before our 40th anniversary celebration. The theme of this year's food drive is the remarkable generosity of this community over 4 decades. Help out if you can - and thank you London for all of it.

A nation cannot build a prosperous future on the exhaustion of its people. When workers are beleaguered, productivity falls—not simply because people work less, but because they have less of themselves left to give. It's why more of those who work are coming to food banks. #LdnOnt

Effective citizenship can set a very high bar when it comes to commitment to community. That's just what Andy & Helen Spreit have done with their $1 million donation to the LHSC Cardiac Lab. On behalf of us all, thank you both for your commitment to the future..

A week today and we get a chance to you see you all for our 40th food bank anniversary. Everyone is invited, since it's a celebration of the generosity of our community for the last four decades. And it will be right in the middle of the food drive. Can't wait.

Politics is is meant to helps us overcome our problems and to accentuate our potential. When it works, we move forward. When it doesn't, we remain mired in-place and our problems prevail.Deaf and deafening aren't helpful.

I was shown respect first entering the full HOC. PM Stephen Harper shook my hand. Disappointing to see so few opposition members to welcome new MPs. The people decided and respect should be shown for that choice. Canada has been great at respecting differences. Let's get back to that.

She is the woman who seems able to do everything, helps everyone, and spends every day turning kindness into action. Where would we all be without her!!!!! Happy Birthday, Jane.

Stone soup. An opportunity for community to gather and celebrate what they've done for 40 years straight. It's amazing when you think about it. Not a business or a government, but a gathering of citizens bent on alleviating hunger in their midst. Thank you, London. #LdnOnt
