I wasn't there, so I don't know, but I did coach youth soccer (on two continents) for over ten years. The point of youth soccer for kids this age is primarily to have fun. It's not competitive or to discover the next Mbappe. Every kid gets to play As always.. parents are the problem.

A child with this level of skill at age 3 would be better served in a youth development program.. which was apparently the outcome here. One year, I had two kids from Brazil on my team whose skill level was miles above the rest of the kids. They dominated and monopolized the game.

I told their grandfather, who attended each match, and who had been a semi-pro player in Brazil, the he really needed to get them into a development league and that they were wasted on my squad. The kid in the article is similar. He was in the wrong league

On the same day (today) that my CO driver's license arrived, a CO mail-in ballot arrived in the mail with a letter that said, "Congratulations. You are now registered to vote in Colorado. Ballot goes in the dropbox tomorrow.

Btw.. There's this very weird TV ad that's been running here, the gist of which is that "Your vote is secret, but whether you vote is not.. anyone can look up your voting record." It's kind of creepy..

Morning walk 10/17 I managed to get these even though Lucy was pulling on her lead. She expects me to wait while she sniffs every blade of grass, but the minute I want to stop and take a photo she's all "get a move on, dad."

Three 8 hr days in a car driving from GA to CO, Lucy was stressed but did well. Since we have moved here she is like a new dog. At 15 years old, she trots on our morning walks, takes the stairs like a champ, and seems physically better than she has in years.

Number 9 - from a 10-year old is absolutely great. Numbers 4, 5 and 6 are also excellent. Binface for MP!

“.. 95 vessels right now are broadcasting crew/ownership instead of a port — ‘All Chinese Crew,’ ‘Armed Guards O/B,’ ‘China Crew & Owner’ — the maritime version of hands up, don't shoot. Nearly all of them: bunched in the Red Sea & Gulf of Aden.” @bloomberg.com

On Monday, The Washington Post reported that a “U.S. official familiar with internal administration discussions,” speaking on the condition of anonymity, warned: “We do not have enough munitions to safely sustain operations, and I don’t think the White House is aware of that.”

The U.S. Treasury agreed that the 48 national associations could apply for tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the tax code — normally reserved for charities — which can remove federal income tax on their tournament income. So most of that $50 million check can largely escape federal tax.

Players don't get the same treatment. At the individual player level, there is no exemption. Once Spain pays its squad a share of that prize for matches played in the US, those payments count as U.S.-source income, and the IRS withholds 30% off the top before the player can claw any of it back.
