Captain Beany ran past me today when I was on a walk. Wondering if this tops the time I met Freddie Starr in a hotel as my new biggest celebrity encounter

watched a found footage horror film tonight (Leaving D.C) and it's killing me that almost all the letterboxd reviews are complaining about an ending which was resolved in the cut I watched, I dunno why there's a shorter version out there and why everyone is watching it.

it's wild to think it'd be rated probably half a star or even a full star higher with the extended ending, as that seems to be everyone's main complaint. Someone get Josh Criss on the phone.

finished the full playthrough/good ending and postgame stuff of Chronicles of the Wolf, it's so absurdly good. Had to abandon it when it first came out right at the end because the hit flash was so extreme, I'm really grateful to them for listening to feedback and fixing that, I needed closure.

Easily my favourite in the genre from the new wave. I love the atmosphere and the pacing, the way the game flows, can feel the passion put into it. Also surprised when I saw the credits and saw Sally Beaumont listed, who I recognised from wadjet eye stuff, had no idea. My gaming worlds are colliding

If you every played a Telenet or Wolf Team game, you will like my short documentary drama on Masahiro Akishino interesting. "The Game Developer Who Vanished" You can watch it on YT, the link is in my profile. Have a great weekend

Strongly relating to Kratos in the new GoW 2d game because I too have zero interest in what is going on with the plot/Vasilis. I hate being overly negative but I'm surprised how much of a slog this is to get through, I thought I'd find the setting interesting at least but everything is so generic.

and like Chronicles of the Wolf meanwhile released a big patch which addresses my main concern (blinding hitflash from bosses) so I booted it up earlier and the contrast is absurd. They're polar opposites within the same genre, everything I feel like GoW is lacking is fully realised in CotW.

just did a playthrough of speedrun mode in the new Abathor patch, I like what they did with the balancing. Earlier stages feel more exciting and later stages more manageable. I used Cranthor though and I haven't used him much in the past. This guy still reminds me of the axe guy in last action hero

Not played the Desktop Stories games, Grim Fandango vs Loom and the final round could go either way depending on my mood but I'm pretty happy with the rest of it.

To enhance your listening experience, here's our bracket. Feel free to fill out your own and post it!

The strongest recurring antagonist in Yakuza games is mahjong. i say this every time but i'm going to actually learn how to play for this one. I'm not going to watch half a video and then try to wing it and declare it impossible. not this time.

Kingdom come: deliverance 2 is supposed to be about realism but you can go to bed and choose to sleep instantly and for however long you like which puts this at the same fantasy level as god of war for me

every UK video game in the 80s and 90s was made by a guy named like "lord wensleydale" or two guys named "the chippy twins" and was about an egg with no special abilities going on an adventure and dying immediately. it was ported to the super nintendo where everyone hated it

started the new Roottrees are Dead just to try it out and suddenly it's almost 1am, game is very good so far. I'd seen the name floating around a fair bit in golden idol/obra dinn discussions from the itch version but never got around to it somehow. i must devour all the sleuthdoku(?) type games.

just watched Death Warrant for the first time and i'm obsessed with the idea it's actually a vampire film, there's so much setup for it. JCVD even gets an echo effect on his attacks at one point, like he's awakening his belmont powers. the film is so much better now that i have this theory.

Letterboxd year in review always surprises me, felt like I watched mostly 80s stuff and horror. Didn't think I watched much Hugh Grant but I guess so (Glass Onion, Paddington 2, Wonka, Remains of the Day.) I think he tied with JCVD, but really JCVD wins as Double Impact should count twice.

Returning to Cadaver on the amiga, one of my favourite games growing up. i could never figure it out as a kid and instead found ways to break stages and i attribute this to my interest in speedrunning, felt like i was taming the jank. I still find it obtuse as an adult, but it's still also sick.

Watching a streamer (macaw) play Last Action Hero on the snes and I'm reminded that these dudes from Abathor always always make me think of the ripper from that/the movie. The hair, the axe, the uh. the attitude? it's like 1:1

I just found out that the scriptwriter for challengers is the guy who made the potion seller youtube video and I feel like i need to give it another star in my letterboxd rating now

Top 6 from the replay, surprised to see Crimson Diamond only at 2%, it's a great game and I feel like I played that a lot. UFO 50 was going to dominate everything else though in playtime, I'm at like 270 hours.

Replaying blood omen: legacy of kain and the atmosphere is completely ruined for me now that I noticed the moans made by the prisoners every 2 seconds sound exactly the same as the start of the chorus for peter andre's mysterious girl

Was hoping Talos Principle 2 would show up in the game awards as part of their shift of allowing DLC to be nominated, really wonderful game which I thought deserved a lot more attention. Happy to see UFO 50 in there though.
