CW discussion of poverty A lot of responsibility and pressure and blame is put on people who receive benefits in regards to not being able to budget effectively. The issue isn't budgeting. The issue is we aren't given enough money to begin with.

But, after spending a good 4 years in transgender communities irl now, I've noticed that the expectation to share one's pronouns can just make the trans person more vulnerable. For me, it's like I'm forced to choose: do I out myself unnecessarily or lie about my true identity for safety.

CW: discussions about poverty, estrangement. The university student finance system needs to change. It currently favours families where at least one parent is employed. It wrongfully assumes that most students in the UK have a parent who is earning and have a good relationship with their family.

Also student finance maintenance payments just aren't enough to cover extra course costs, travel, food and basic living needs. A lot of UK students are forced to live in poverty during their studies. This is a long-standing known fact that the UK government doesn't seem to care about.

There are so many students in the UK who are coming from broken families, who are coming from poverty, who are coming from unstable households. There needs to be a lot more financial resources in place for students coming from difficult circumstances.

I would really love to work with the charity Mind in the future. They're an incredible mental health charity. They create accessible, easy to read resources on mental health conditions. They also provide a ton of in-person and community mental health support.

Artists, the pressure to 'find your style' is a product derived from capitalism. As you continue to create, you will keep finding new things in your style. Your style will keep changing and evolving. It is not a finite finishing line. It is something that you are constantly always learning.

The pressure of being unique within the creative world makes no sense to me as somebody who has found joy in the community aspects of creation. It doesn't make sense to me to have this individualistic desire to be a unique artist. There's no such thing as a unique idea and that's a good thing.

One of the greatest joys in art is that you are constantly in conversation with your fellow creators. You are constantly in conversation with the world around you, with your inspirations, and the people that you look up to. And a lot of that conversation is through taking direct inspiration.

It also puts a lot of pressure on the artist to have an artificial sense of your own identity. That you have to always draw in the same style in order to match your brand and this is... exhausting. It doesn't inspire creativity, it just leads to burnout.

Pressure to 'find your style' is a direct result of the capitalist pressure to have a unique brand and to have a USP. But this just encourages you to constantly compare yourself and never feel fulfilled in your creative journey. It encourages burnout and tunnel vision.
